MONDAY MUSINGS.

Happy Monday, friends! I hope everyone had a great weekend!  We were dealing with cold weather, gray skies, drizzle and rain this weekend (plus 2 boys with stuffy noses and yucky coughs) so we did a lot of typical rainy day things.  Meaning we laid around in our PJs a lot, played games, watched movies and ordered takeout.  Craig was actually in town this weekend (yay!!) but he still had a camp.  It was just local this time so he didn't have to travel.

Today I've got a few random thoughts for you in this Monday Musings post.  And when I say random, I really do mean it. But since we're already talking about the weekend, I'll start with that.

So we didn't hibernate all weekend. My two little snotballs have been dying to see How to Train Your Dragon so I loaded them up on cough medicine so they wouldn't irritate everyone else in the theater and we headed out to our favorite theater for lunch and a movie.  Why not kill 2 birds with 1 stone?!  We love the Moviehouse & Eatery just for this reason.

The movie was so good, as all HTTYD movies are and I definitely teared up a few times as well.  I am so weak.  haha
Ok, have y'all watched Abducted in Plain Sight on Netflix yet??  GOOD. GRIEF.  It's all I can say.

Ok, so maybe it's not ALL I can say because I'm about to say more because what the actual (bad word)?!?!

This is a documentary that honestly, I'm not sure the parents thought through all the way.  In my opinion, (and I tend to avoid opinions on here because I hate conflict and don't want to start a debate...it makes me sweat) but in my opinion, these parents should be hiding in shame.  Not writing a book about their idiotic mistakes and making a documentary for Netflix about it.

These "musings" are for those of you who have seen it but if you haven't, it's about Jan, a 12-year-old girl, who was abducted (twice) by one of the family's "best friends", B.  He brainwashes her, drugs her, molests her, rapes her, abducts her and then tries to convince the parents to MARRY HER.  And the whole time, the parents are kinda like "Hmmm.  I guess it's ok."  "Let's drop the charges.  I'm sure you taking my daughter to Mexico instead of horseback riding was a big misunderstanding."

And this is an excerpt from an article I read by The Atlantic (that you can find HERE):

One of the scenes in Abducted in Plain Sight that best encapsulates the strangeness of its story comes midway through, after the second time a teenager named Jan Broberg has been kidnapped by a close family friend. That friend, Robert Berchtold, calls Jan’s mother, Mary Ann, and falsely tells her that Jan is prostituting herself and selling drugs. “Oh my goodness,” Mary Ann replies, in a steady, even tone, as if he’s just told her that seasonal allergies might be worse than usual this summer, or that two people brought potato salads to the potluck. “Oh dear. Oh. Now I won’t be able to sleep.”

Y'all.  This whole story is ABSURD.  It makes me so sad for this little girl.  Her innocence was stolen and her parents basically handed her over to this monster to do with her whatever he pleased.  How could any parent think it was ok for your husband's best friend to sleep in a bed with your 12-year-old daughter, ESPECIALLY after he's already abducted her once?!  All because it was supposedly part of his "therapy"!?!  Is that even real life?!

If I were the parents there is no way I'd write a book about how stupid I was and then go on to make a documentary about it as well.  Just watch for yourself and you'll understand where I'm coming from.  (Or google it.  It's all over the place right now.  This is a good article too.)

I understand that there are times when we can't always protect our children from bad things and bad people.  But these people could have.  And it makes me furious.
Ok.  On to random musing #3.  Do y'all follow Jennifer Garner on Instagram?  (I told you this was random.)  If you don't, you should.  I've always liked her but after peeping her Instagram in a very major way...like I spent an hour going through all her posts one night...she is one of my FAVORITE people to follow now!  She is so natural, so funny and is not afraid of a little self-deprecation.

I love that she re-posted this paparazzi shot of her ripped granny panties hanging out! 😂😂

She doesn't take her self too seriously and I love that.  She loves to cook and is obsessed with the Barefoot Contessa.  Go to her IG TV stories to watch her Pretend Cooking Show.  (Start with the best chocolate sheet cake one.)  It will make you smile and you will wish she was your BFF.  Completely down-to-earth and unpretentious.  You can tell she is the best mom too.

Told you it was random.

Have y'all seen A Star Is Born yet?  I watched it a few days before the Oscars and finally got what all the fuss was about!  It was SO GOOD!

And then at the Oscars, we all watched Gaga and Bradley sing their duet on stage and the entire nation collectively sighed.  (And took pictures of their TVs to share on social media. 🙋‍♀️)

We all got heart eyes because their love looked so undeniable!

I mean.  It was epic.  And yes, I'll admit that I was definitely all for that love being real and then I noticed the chick between them in the audience.  And realized he had a girlfriend and a baby mama. No, I didn't know all about this girl. And yes, I got a little sad.  I haven't been the celebrity connoisseur I once was in a very long time so I honestly had no idea he was even dating anyone.  But when I found out about the girlfriend I just felt so bad for her!!

Can you imagine the entire country thinking that your boyfriend is in love with his costar while you're over there trying to remind people that he is very taken and has a family?!

Gaga did try to squash those rumors on Jimmy Kimmel which I thought was classy of her and said that social media is the toilet of the internet.  And I laughed so hard. She basically just said they clearly did their jobs well.  And that was it.

So I think it just goes to show how amazingly talented they are.  They fooled us all into believing they were actually in love.  But they aren't.

Right??  😉
Why do Instagram and Facebook NEVER WORK when I'm sitting in the carpool line waiting for the bell to ring?  Is it because every other mom in the carpool line is also trying to check Instagram and FB?  My kids ride their bikes or walk home almost every day except for the very cold days or when it rains.  So thankfully, I don't have to sit in these lines often.  But when I do, IG won't load, videos freeze, I can't upload anything...it's so annoying.

And it's totally 100% #firstworldproblems.  I know this. But I feel as if this is a safe space where I can vent that. It's just one of my random Monday Musings. 😉
And finally, I wanted to share my #OOTD from Saturday because I love this new top so much!  I really wish you could reach through the screen and feel it.  It's a super soft, thin, waffle knit material and it was the perfect choice for a rainy Saturday at the movies.

AND it's from an online boutique that my friend started this past year.  No, I didn't get it for free or a discount. No, she has no idea I'm going to promote her right now.  But I love supporting other women and she started out a lot like I did.  And I had girlfriends who shared my Etsy shop when I didn't ask them to, just because they are super supportive and it boosted my reach even more.  (Thank you, Shay! xoxo) And when you are working your BUTT off in your first year or two of trying to start a business, you need all the support and "reach" you can get.

So I try to pay it forward every chance I get with other girl bosses.  Amber is a fellow baseball mom on Mason's team (her hubby is the coach) and she is working night and day to build her business.  So if you're interested in cute boutique clothes at great prices, go follow her on Instagram HERE and Facebook HERE and tell her I sent you!

Also worth mentioning:  Those jeans are my absolute favorite right now.  They are the perfect distressed jean and look super cute cuffed.  They are light and make your butt look great (according to my husband...haha).  They also won't break the bank.  Highly recommend.

As for my shoes, if you are part of my Daily Deals FB group then you already know these are my Jane wedge sneakers that are under $40! I am obsessed and wear them every chance I get.  These exact ones aren't currently on Jane right now (deals only last for 72 hours) but THESE are very similar.  Trust me, I post these sneakers every single time I see them on Jane so be sure to join if you want to get in on the deals!

So that's it for all my random musings today!  I'm currently working on an "Amanda's Amazon Haul" post to show you what all I've scored from Amazon lately and my February Book Review will be this week!!  I'm not the most consistent blogger though so be sure to subscribe, follow me on IG, or join the FB group if you haven't already!

Happy Monday, friends!
