FRIDAY FAVORITES #132

Happy Friday!!

It has been almost a month since my last official Friday Favorites! How can that be?! Y'all know I'm a sporadic blogger but dang. I didn't realize I'd gone so long without a Favorites post! I am back today though and have lots of fun stuff to share so thanks for being here and let's dive on in!

My very first favorite was long overdue thanks to Covid but Texas is opening up (safely) and I was able to get my hair done!  It was so surreal though, I will say that.  There was a table outside the salon door with instructions before you could even enter.  You had to sign 2 different liability waivers/questionnaires, use the hand sanitizer, and put your mask on and then as soon as you entered, the receptionist did a temperature check.  I still can't believe this is the world we're living in.  It's something straight out of a movie and I hate it (just like everyone else). 2020 is the WORST.

Anyway, I usually just get a trim with my highlights but this time I had my stylist cut off a good 5" when normally it's more like 1"1.5" tops.  My hair was just so long and the ends were looking a little damaged and thin so it was time for more than a trim. She brightened it all up with some summer blonde highlights too and I seriously left feeling like a new woman. I love how healthy my hair feels when I cut a significant amount off. Honestly, the second I left the salon I wished I'd gone even shorter!  Maybe next time.

Also, my tee is an Amazon find and is so soft!  It says Go Ask Your Dad in case you can't read backward. 😂 My friend Karla said she may need to wear this on Father's Day. haha

I did a post about our Sunroom Makeover last month (here) and once I got that exactly how I wanted it, I decided it was time to spruce up the pool area too. I got new cushions for our lounge chairs, cute new pillows, spray painted the little metal table because it had faded significantly and found the perfect outdoor rug to tie all my colors together!

I love how it ties into the colors in my sunroom too with my lime green table and my flower pillows! The firepit (to the left in the pic below) normally sits in front of the blue chairs but we may move it somewhere else.  I don't want it leaving rust stains on my rug like it did the last one!

The main function of this rug is really to help give us somewhere cool to stand when it's 100+ degrees outside and the concrete is burning our feet. But it's nice that it's all bright and colorful too and if you know me at all, you know I'm a sucker for all things bright and colorful!

It's really soft too which I didn't expect from an outdoor rug, seems really durable and is currently on sale here and here in various sizes if you want to check it out!

Just in case you missed it, I posted my May Book Review on Monday and while I didn't really like 2 of them, I LOVED the rest!  If you need some summer reading, be sure to check my review out!!

Girls.  If you are in the market for some awesome capri yoga pants, then please let me direct you towards this Amazon find! I bought these leggings a couple of weeks ago and was so impressed!  They aren't that thin, slinky material (not that there is anything wrong with that) but these are a thicker, more matte material that does a great job at sucking you in, holding you up and smoothing out any lumps and bumps which tend to show easier with the thinner leggings. They are high-waisted and come in several colors although the listing isn't showing my royal blue ones at the moment. I need to order these in black as soon as my size is restocked.

Be sure to scroll through the reviews!  They are GLOWING. This is a brand I'll be keeping my eye on for sure!

You can find their other leggings here in slightly different styles as well.  So comfortable!! And yes, they have the side pockets for your cell phone (or whatever). I've been so spoiled by those pockets that I don't know if I'll ever buy another pair without them!

I also got the cutest new Judith March hat! Her hats are my favorite and this one didn't let me down! I know it's hard to read but it says "Blondie" and the mesh is so appreciated when I'm sweating like a madwoman in this Texas heat and am able to feel a cool breeze go through the hat.  She has all different styles that you can find here.
And my shoes were a peer-pressure purchase after I saw everyone and their mama (including my own mama) swearing up and down that they were the greatest, lightest, comfiest shoes ever. I mean, I had to see what all the fuss was about right?!  And they weren't kidding!  So light you'll forget you're wearing them. (You can find them HERE in most sizes and for $20 cheaper than they are on the Adidas website.)

Another thing I've been wearing on repeat is this basic white Judith March tee.  It's only $18 and is the best white tee I've ever owned.  I've been washing and wearing on repeat. It's incredibly soft and the tiniest bit oversized (I'm wearing a small) and it's not too see-through. (Wear a nude bra and you're fine.)  I wore it with my favorite jeans, my $32 sandals that look very similar to the $200 ones that I can't bring myself to buy, and a bunch of Amazon jewelry for my first casual girls' night out since the quarantine.

These bracelets are so fun and I've got these earrings in just about every color I'll need.  You can get them in a 9 pack for $12.99 which makes these SO CHEAP but they pack a big, fun, colorful statement!

And here are the shorts I've been LIVING in since the day I got them.  I am obsessed. I wanted to try these out after I saw them on Amazon the other day so I ordered one pair and the second I pulled them on I knew I needed the other colors because these were going to be my go-to summer shorts. I ordered the other 3 colors and these babies have been on a good rotation since then.

I have them in a small (very TTS and they will stretch out just a tiny bit after you wear them for a half hour or so) and they are perfect enough to sleep in. (Which I have done several times.)  They are also about fingertip length on me so if you don't like short shorts, these are great.  I even made my mom try them on when she was in town this past weekend and she completely agreed.

If I could wear that Judith March white tee and these shorts every day and night for the rest of summer, I'd be a happy girl. (And don't judge me if I do. 😂)

Now listen, ladies. I'm not one to relish in taking swimsuit selfies but I had to show you this cute suit. It comes in a ton of prints, has full booty coverage, is lightly padded with removable cups and honestly, anything with a halter top that helps keep things "up" is a good option, if you know what I mean. 😉

A couple of weeks ago, I found myself without a project of any kind on a Saturday which is rare for me because I love working on random things on the weekend. Give me a closet to clean out, a bathroom to paint, or a playroom to reorganize any day! (I had actually finished a DIY project the day before and I'll show y'all that soon if you missed it on Instagram.)

So I took myself out to the pool while the boys were with friends and Craig was golfing and enjoyed some free time with my Kindle.

Yes, ma'am! Definitely a favorite day!!

If you want a hat for your own state, be sure to check here for a ton of cute ones!!

And I always get questions about my Kindle cover whenever this pops up in my IG stories! I mean, they had me with that saying. "So many books, so little time." #sotrue You can find it on Amazon along with a ton of other designs that are also super cute.

I'm almost done with the new Kristan Higgins novel that was just released and so far, it's exactly what I've come to expect from her!  Perfect summer reads!!

Are y'all part of my Deals Group over on Facebook? If you are, you have probably seen me post this sale a couple of times this week but it's such a good one!  Listen, ladies.  If you are looking for a lightly padded, incredibly comfortable t-shirt bra, that gives you a really pretty shape, you MUST try this one!  I've worn a lot of different bras in my life but this one is the hands-down most comfortable one I've ever put on.  It's currently on sale in 4 different colors for under $30 when it's normally $70! Size/colors are selling out fast so if you want to grab one, do it now!

(Also comes in black.)

I can't imagine someone not thinking the same about this bra once they've tried it.

Another sale you don't want to miss is the Loft sale! They are clearing out so much of their inventory to make room for the new fall items and you should definitely take advantage!  Back in the winter, I posted a Loft Haul and so many of these are now on clearance and you can use the code YESSS to knock off another 50-70%!! That makes this little striped sweater around 10 bucks!

I loved all these tops and you can still find most of them HERE (or go to my blog post for all the individual links and sizing details) but if you told me to pick just ONE to recommend, it would have to be this sweatshirt.

Image may contain: one or more people, people standing and phone

It's thin but not too thin.  It's incredibly soft inside and out with a cozy fleece lining and adorable little multicolored flecks throughout. I'm wearing a small and y'all...best sweatshirt ever.  We don't really have "cool" summer nights here in TX but I know some of y'all do and it would look great with cutoffs on the beach!  But even if you can't wear it now, save it for winter and thank me later. ;)

My friend just texted me to tell me she got 4 tops for under $40 including shipping! Could be a great time to stock up for work outfits! (My friend is a teacher.) Shop the sale here!

And finally...I've found a new dry shampoo.  Y'all probably understand that dry shampoo is basically a Godsend.  😂 Seriously, where was this in college? I know it existed but why didn't I know about it!?!  When I'd get desperate I remember rubbing baby powder into my hair but it wasn't quite the same.

I've tried so many brands of dry shampoo and usually my biggest complaint is that the smell is overpowering--way too perfume-y.  I love the Living Proof brand but when I get in the car, I can smell the spray and I feel like everyone else is choking on it too.  Batiste for Blondes is usually my go-to...it's the lightest scent, the cheapest and works the best in my opinion.  But I also feel like I'm inhaling so much bad stuff every time I spray it and Lord knows what I'm doing to the ozone layer. 🤷‍♀️

So, I've told y'all I'm loving my new Billie Razor ($9 shipped y'all...such an awesome deal if you need a good razor!) and I was checking out some of their other products the other day when I saw that they had a dry shampoo!  It looked adorable first off.  Well done on that cute packaging.  But I was intrigued because it wasn't a spray.  It was a powder.

I don't know why I didn't take a picture of the actual powder but I'll do that today and post it in the deals group but it's like a heavier baby powder consistency...almost like cornstarch maybe? Anyway, you can choose between a light or dark shade so it'll blend into your hair better and it's only a few dollars more than my Batiste and I know this will last longer!  Plus, there's no spray so I'm not inhaling chemicals or poking holes in the Ozone layer! #winwin

I usually shake a little into my hand and then rub it in but you can also just shake it directly into your hair.  I don't know if I'll ever go back to my Batiste! I love that I don't get any sort of overpowering smell...or smell at all that I can recall.  You can see a video of it on their website too if you want to check it out.
(PS: I also love their shaving cream.

And I think that is all I've got for today, friends!  I've got so much more I feel like I want to catch up with you on so hopefully I'll have some fun posts up next week.

Our weekend plans are starting off with a little tooth surgery for Craig this afternoon.  He has had a toothache for months off and on and has put off going to get it checked out for way too long.  And now half of his face has swollen up with an infection over the past 48 hours.  He is a mess.  We are supposed to be going to a wedding here in town on Saturday so that'll be fun if he's up to it by then.  I'd love to dress up and get out of the house.  I'm not sure how a social distancing wedding will work but we'll see.  We may not stay long but this is one of Craig's very first quarterbacks that he worked with when he started doing private lessons 10+ years ago and now he's all grown up and getting married! Crazy how fast time goes.

Have a happy weekend, everyone!!

  2. Everything you posted today is so cute!! Your hair looks great.

My only comment is that you need to wear a two piece bathing suit-you have worked hard for your body, you should show it off. :)

Hope you are able to enjoy the wedding tomorrow.

    1. Oh you are too sweet! Thank you!! I have several two pieces but my backyard is constantly being invaded by tweenage boys so I tend to gravitate towards suits with more coverage these days because of that. I do have a few that are pretty modest two pieces though so maybe I'll take your advice. ;) I actually just got another cute one from Amazon that I haven't even worn yet. Thank you, Kara!

    1. Awesome! Yes, Billie doesn't put any of that toxic stuff in their products! No sulfates, parabens, GMOs etc etc. I should have mentioned that. 😂
