What's Up Wednesday! {5.31.17}

Today is the last Wednesday of the school year!!  My kids are soooo over school.  And so am I.  It feels so good to be able to say hello to summer!!

Today I'm linking up with Shay, Mel and Sheaffer for What's Up Wednesday!  So here we go!

WHAT WE'RE EATING THIS WEEK...

Monday night, we grilled chicken and steaks and ate them with sweet potato fries and a salad.

Tuesday night, Craig took the boys to Matthew's baseball game and I went to a Manda Strong Foundation event.  (They rented out a movie theater and we watched one of Manda's favorite movies, Hitch.  We also brought in gifts for another young mom who is going through her own cancer battle.)  I ate at the theater and the boys had Sonic and were still wide awake at 9:45 when I walked through teh door...  Sigh. #dadonduty

Tonight I promised Mason we'd have tacos because if he doesn't get tacos at least once a week, he goes through major withdrawals.  ;)  Craig and I will probbaly have taco salads.

The rest of the week is up in the air.  I'd love to be that mom who plans it all out for the week but I'm just not.  We tend to go with whatever sounds good at the time which is a terrible way to do it and only adds stress and headaches at dinnertime.  Don't do it like us!!  I am trying to be better at meal planning but there are just many other things I'm trying to be better at as well.  I am a work-in-progress for sure.

Sometimes I feel like I need to go to Mom School.  #anyoneelse?

WHAT I'M REMINSCING ABOUT...

Mason as a 3 year old saying the Pledge of Allegiance.  Be still my heart.

WHAT I'M LOVING...

My new rug!  (It looks so much prettier in this room than in my craft room full of junk!)

My favorite bracelets!

Colorful bracelets are OLD so I can't even begin to tell you where to get them.

But find the others here:

And I just ordered a couple of these chairs from World Market so I hope I love them when they arrive!

I love adirondack chairs and these are on sale right now too!

WHAT WE'VE BEEN UP TO...

My Etsy shop is still keeping me super busy and I'm hoping to find some time soon to get new sign designs added!  I've got all these ideas but no time to actually do any of them in between current orders!

Craig is still in the midst of football camp season and Matthew has a baseball tournament coming up.

WHAT I'M DREADING...

I have a dentist appointment soon that I'm definitely not looking forward to.  I'd rather do anything than go to the dentist.  I'd rather go to the ob/gyn than go to the dentist.  Seriously.

WHAT I'M WORKING ON...

So many of these gorgeous create your own glitterdipped tumblers...

These sleeping baby signs can be customized however you need!

So many glitter colors for these oh-so-true mugs!

This Disney font is not on the font chart in the listings but feel free to request it!

All of these tumblers are fully restocked in these 3 colors!

And how pretty is the pink with the turquoise?  Personalize it however you'd like!

Find all of these in the shop here and remember to tap on Item Details in each listing to see all the ordering information!  (If you are on the mobile site or app.)

WHAT I'M WATCHING/READING...

Lately I've been binge watching The Real Housewives of New Jersey from the beginning.  I love those crazy women!! (Except Danielle Staub.  I forgot how nuts she really was.)

I've also been trying to get several of my friends to watch Southern Charm which I (re)watched all of recently too.  That is one of my favorite Bravo shows of all time!

But can I just say that the new Southern Charm Savannah is AWFUL?  Is anyone else watching it?  I can't stand it.  I don't like any of the people on it.  None of them are interesting and the Ashley woman is just pathetic with all her half naked attempts to gain attention.  It's just sad.

As for what I'm reading, I've been keeping these two books handy while I attempt to declutter and organize my house!

Click the pics for the direct links.

My poolside book of the moment is still A Beautiful Day.  I haven't had as much time to read by the pool lately as normal so it's taking awhile.

And on Audible (which allows me to "read" 2 books a week), I am about to start Confessions of a Domestic Failure.  I mean.  The title alone pulled me in immediately.  I know I OFTEN feel like a domestic failure!  I'll let you click the link to read the summary if you want to know more since this post is already long enough as it is!

This book has an almost 5 star rating on audible and a perfect 5 star rating on amazon.  I almost NEVER see perfect 5 stars on Amazon.  Hoping to start this book today!

WHAT I'M WEARING...

So many soft tees, jean shorts and jean capris.

Love this one from Target that I wore at a Memorial Day party last weekend.  So incredibly soft!

LOVE these jean shorts I just ordered.  Waiting on them to arrive.  Hope they are keepers!

(Can someone please explain to me why 4" jean shorts seem to cost twice as much as 32" blue jeans?)

As for the rest of the questions...  I don't know what we're doing this weekend besides relaxing, playing with friends, swimming and cleaning out more rooms!  I'm also in full party planning mode for the boys birthday party in a couple of weeks.

And as for the bonus question of my favorite vacation spot?

Anywhere there is a beach.  I am pretty easy to please after that.  :)

Happy Wednesday!!

Memorial Day Weekend Fun. 2017

What a LOVELY weekend, y'all!!  We had such a great 4 day holiday but I feel like it was just a big tease leading into this week where we still have 3 days left of school!!  What is up with that!?!  It'll be over soon enough though and then our summer can really start!  We can't wait!

Friday morning, the boys and I jumped in the car and headed to Sulphur Springs, TX which is about and hour and 15 minutes away.  It's almost halfway between Mckinney and Texarkana (where my parents live).  We always meet halfway when the kids go spend a weekend alone with my parents.  Did I mention that Craig was in Arizona for a 5 day football camp so I was coming home to a completely empty house????  #winning

I got back home around 11:30 and unfortunately, had to work for the rest of the day.  What a waste of a kid-free day, I know!  But orders were scheduled to ship and I HATE shipping even a day late.  I'm also nervous about a lot of last minute teacher gift orders that came in...I'm hoping everyone saw that my turnaround time is up to 2 weeks right now and won't yell at me when their orders ship on time but too late for their last day of school!  Eeek!! #pleasedontyellatme #Ihavearushfee

I ended up working all the way until 8 because I was just in the zone.  (Click the pics below to take you directly to the listing!)

Just restocked all colors in these awesome water bottles!  These are the ones my boys use for school and they are awesome!  They don't leak and they are incredibly durable!  Have them personalized anyway you like.  Click on the pic for more detail in the listing!

I was also binge-watching the Real Housewives of New Jersey and those girls always bring the crazy so it's never boring.  I had almost forgotten how insane Danielle Staub was!  If you are a Real Housewives fan, you can watch all (most?) the franchisees on Hulu.  I'm so thankful I found Hulu!!  (Go here and try it for 2 weeks free!  SO many good shows including several of my old favorites like Samantha Who? and Ugly Betty.)

Y'all.  These women have ISSUES.  I cannot even imagine if my group of girlfriends fought with each other like this!  If it's that hard to be sweet to each other and you clearly don't even ENJOY each other, why are you friends?!  I've never understood that with the Real Housewives but then again, they sure do make for some entertaining TV.  ;)

Anyway, Saturday I slept until 8 and then finished up as many orders as I could before the mailman came around noon.  Once the mailman came though, I finally felt FREE!  I had all these big plans to go to them mall (which I never get to do) or maybe go see a movie.  But instead, I looked around my messy, overstuffed craft room and playroom and started clearing out CLUTTER.  I've been obsessed with these two book (Unstuffed and The Complete Book of Home Organization) lately and they have given me so much motivation to bust my butt to get my house de-crapified.

Find it here

Find Unstuffed here

I think this book has been my favorite and the easiest for me to use and implement things quickly.

So since these two books have been on my mind so much lately, I ended up diving straight into our junk and skipping the mall completely.

I was also super excited to get my room cleaned up so I could appreciate my new rug even more!

This room is a MESS 90% of the time.  It still needs work.  I still need to repaint the walls and add some shelves or cabinets above my table.

And I know my cute chair doesn't exactly coordinate with my new rug but this is supposed to be a fun room so I'm not letting it stress me out.  I adore my chair!!

By the end of summer, I hope this place is a little more organized.  But right now, it works for me.  I've come to terms with the fact that it will never be a Pinterest-worthy room.  My table is covered in glitter, glue, and paint.  And there is stuff coming out of every space available.  I've almost always got half painted signs and boxes covering the floor.  It is what it is.  :)

Saturday night, Erika invited a bunch of us to their neighborhood Wall Party that they go to every Memorial Day weekend.  I missed last year because I was with Craig at a camp in Scottsdale.  The camp happened to be at a gorgeous resort so I couldn't pass it up.

But this year I decided to stay home instead and enjoy my alone time and my girl time!  We had the best night just standing around, talking and laughing for a few hours.  We also got to see that sweet Britt loving on her pretty mama and her daddy all night.  We are ALL completely smitten!

(My USA shirt is from Target by the way.  You can find it here. It is so soft!!! Love Target tees!)

Sunday morning I headed back to Sulphur Springs to pick up the boys.  They had the best time with Nana and Papa!

They hit up the new trampoline park for some jumping, sugary snacks and air hockey...

...admired my mom's pretty flowers...

...played in the sprinkler...

...and did some metal detecting with my brother at my old elementary school.

They also did some ziplining at my granddaddy's house and picked me out some yummy red potatoes from his garden.  They had a big time!

When we all got back home, the boys were so excited to get to play with their friends again.  Preston is one of their best buddies and they live in our culdesac.  Preston's mom, Megan, invited us to join them for dinner at Chilis Sunday night so we enjoyed a fun dinner with all the kids.

They love Preston's little sister, Sophia too!  Isn't she a doll?!

After dinner, the boys got invited to spend the night at Preston's which left me with one more night all to myself.  Megan sent me this picture of the kids eating ice cream.

And the next morning she took them all to Dunkin' Donuts for breakfast.  (I totally owe her!!)

The rest of the day the boys were in and out of the backyard with their friends.  I pretty much parked myself on my chair by the pool under the umbrella all day and did as much work as I could do from my computer.  I don't mind work a bit if I can do it by the pool.  :)

Monday evening, Craig came home from Arizona and we grilled some chicken and steaks while the boys pool-hopped to ANOTHER neighbor's house for their 4th dip in a pool that day.

We had a great weekend and it felt so good to get some stuff done that didn't involve work or the kids!  But I miss those little guys like crazy when they aren't with me.  (and my big guy too!)

I'm so glad to have my sweet family all back under one roof.  It gets super quiet (...and super clean...) around here when it's just me!  ;)

See you back here tomorrow for What's Up Wednesday!

Linking up with Stefanie for Tuesday Talk!

Happy Memorial Day!

Happy Memorial Day, friends!  As we celebrate this day with pool parties, BBQs, on the lake, at the beach or just enjoying a day off, I hope we all stop and remember the ultimate sacrifice that so many brave men and women have made (and continue to make) to ensure our freedom and keep us safe. I know I am eternally grateful.  Thank you to all of you who serve in our armed forces as well as your families.  I pray God blesses you and keeps you safe!

I'll be back on Tuesday for a little Memorial Day weekend recap!

Y'all be safe and have fun!!

Friday Favorites #13. {5.26.17}

Happy Friday, everyone!!  We have a 4-day weekend in front of us thanks to a bad weather day we didn't need and of course, Memorial Day!   (Boo for no snow this year but yay for the extra long weekend it got us now!).

It's another Friday Favorites post which means I'm linking up with Narci, Erika and Andrea and I get to post all my favorite random things from this week! I love reading other people's FF because so much of it inspires what goes on my Wish List!  If you missed my Wish List Wednesday post, check it out here!

So here we go!

#1

This first spot has to go to my sweet friends, The Slaughters!!  Yesterday afternoon, so many of their friends and family made our way to DFW to welcome them home from China with their new baby girl!

Britt is just the cutest and it was pretty funny seeing all us mamas falling all over ourselves trying to get her to smile for us!  I'm sure I can vouch for us all when I say that when one of us did a get her to smile, it completely melted our hearts!  She is precious and you can already see that she loves her mama!

It'll be awhile before we can squish on her like we all want to, so for now we'll make due with trying to make her laugh.  Love you, Slaughter Six!  So happy you're home!

On Wednesday morning, I was something I never thought I'd get to be.

A dance mom.

Sort of.

Wednesday morning was Mason's talent show at school and The Crazy Boy Crew killed it!

They were so stinkin' cute and managed to finish the routine all in one piece.  We were all a little nervous that might not happen.  Mason trips over his friend at the beginning and then almost breaks his arm right at the end.  That child is a walking disaster sometimes but in the most lovable way.

I'm trying to figure out how to upload a video here on the blog so we'll see if this works!  Mason is in the front row, 2nd from the left in the reddish/orange shirt.

While I was watching him, I realized that this was probably going to be one of my only times to ever get to feel anything like a dance mom.  ;)

After the show was over, I snagged a few pics of my little star and the crew.

Plaid shirt here.  White fringe earrings here.  I wear these earrings ALL the time!

I don't know why he's smiling like that.  I thought we were past the weird smile stage!

I told Mason if he keeps crossing his eyes like that, they are definitely going to stick!  ;)

That's one cute group of 1st graders!

#3

I love jewelry so I have to show off my new earrings!  I paired them with a cold shoulder top from Target (I looked but couldn't find it online so check the store!), some of my favorite bracelets, my incredibly over-worn Gap capris from several years ago and my beaded sandals.  I got my sandals from Francesca's last spring but Nordstrom has some very similar this season! I love all the color!

Earrings (in emerald) / white bracelet / gold bracelet / blue bracelet / similar sandals / colorful bracelets are incredibly old!

#4

What is better than having something you ordered come in on time??

How about it coming in a day early!?

My rug I talked about on Wednesday was supposed to be here today but it came in right before we left for the airport yesterday afternoon!  I was so excited that I just threw it down really quick without cleaning anything up.  So I don't have an awesome pic for you today but hopefully, I will once I do some tidying up.  ;)

This rug is hiding some of the worst stains EVER.

Find the rug here.  It comes in so many sizes!!

#5

I just finished The Other Woman for the second or possibly third time.  I have it on Audible and when I'm between credits, I tend to re-listen to books from a few years ago.  I adore Jane Green books and this was the first one I read of hers.

I'll let you follow the link to read the official summary.  My summaries don't quite do them justice.  :)  But I will say that it deals with the dynamics between an overbearing mother-in-law and her somewhat sensitive and at times, overly dramatic daughter-in-law.

(For the record, I am very blessed to have a great MIL! I felt like I needed to add that in case anyone thinks that's why I like it!)

Find it here on Amazon.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And for our #fashionfail of the week, may I present you with....

#justsayNO #icanteven #momjeansatheirfinest

But if you MUST have them, grab them now!  They are on sale for $410.  That's down from $685!  What a steal!  ;)

Have a fantastic Memorial Day weekend, everyone!  Be safe!!
