WHAT'S UP WEDNESDAY | OCTOBER 2019

Happy Holiday Season, friends!  It's technically the holiday season now, right?  We're one day from Halloween (a holiday) and then BAM!  It's NOVEMBER!  And November is the official start of the holiday season for me and I'm guessing for most of you as well.  I mean, I won't go as far as to say Merry Christmas just yet (😂) but goodness knows I'm ITCHING to dive headfirst into one of my red plastic tubs full of glitter and twinkly lights.  I  cannot wait to deck my halls!!

Every year I see and hear debates between the people who are firmly "all things Christmas" the second the clock strikes midnight on November 1st and the ones who don't even think about Christmas until that turkey and dressing are tucked neatly into Tupperware in the fridge on Thanksgiving night.
Yuppies definitely me
I tend to fall somewhere in the middle on the outside but on the inside--see above. 🎄 Now the older I get, the more I'm starting to care less and less about what is socially acceptable when it comes to what's considered too early or too late. You'll never please everyone and honestly, who the heck cares if someone thinks its too early for you to decorate your own house for Christmas!?  If they don't live there, it's not hurting them.  (And even if they do live there, they can just deal. #ahem #craignall)

All of that to say, YOU DO YOU this year girls and don't let anyone pressure you into waiting until they think it's appropriate or pushing you to decorate before you're ready.  And if you think it's ridiculous that someone is decorating too early or waiting too late, keep it to yourself.  Don't rain on someone else's parade, man.

My neighbor is putting up her Christmas stuff this weekend and I am 100% jealous.  I've got a little more shopping to do (we need a new tree) before I can really start thinking about it but oooohhhh I can't wait!

But back today's post.  ;)  It's another installment of What's Up Wednesday with Shay and Sheaffer where we answer all sorts of questions about what we've been up to lately and what we're planning next month.  I love seeing what everyone else is up to so if you leave a comment here and you've also blogged WUW, please leave your link and I'll check it out!

CATCHING UP.

Hello Monday!

I'm back today feeling so much better than I was last Monday, that's for sure!  Week-long head colds are the worst and I finally said a firm "peace out" to mine.  I'm looking forward to being super-productive this week to make up for the last one!

I feel like I'm off to a good start too with a blog post!  We don't see a lot of Monday blog posts around here so already I feel like I'm winning. 😂

I thought I'd make today's post a good ole photo dump and share what we've been up to lately!

FRIDAY FAVORITES: GREEN BAY TRIP 💛💚

Hey strangers!!  I feel like I've been gone forever!  (It's only been a week but still.)  It has been the craziest few weeks around here and I am so looking forward to getting back to our routine.

The past 3 weekends have been so fun but so busy and it has thrown off my weekly routines like crazy!  I feel like I'm just spinning my wheels trying to catch up on everything from laundry and dishes to Etsy orders and the FB group.  Looking forward to this weekend where I can get everything back in place, remember to wash gym clothes, sign school forms, open mail and get new listings posted to the shop.

FRIDAY FAVORITES #108

I think it's finally happening, friends!  This Texas heat is slowly receding and we are going to be getting some actual FALL weather (or what we consider fall weather) this weekend!  Today the high is 62 (as of the last time I checked) and it will continue to rise a little each day until next Tuesday where it peaks around 87 and then starts to taper back down again.  We'll take it!

Yay for sweater weather! I’m so glad fall is finally here. #handlettering #brushlettering #adrawingaday #fall

BIRTHDAY WEEKEND RECAP | WEDDING, SIX FLAGS & #GBVSDAL

So I guess this is what 38 looks like!  How am I THIRTY-EIGHT YEARS OLD?!  I'm not sure what I imagined myself as at 38 when I was a kid or a teenager.  But probably much the same as I actually am.  Mom, wife, days and nights at the ballfield, church, friends, family. (Not in that particular order.)  I had no idea what I'd be doing for a career when I was younger though. I danced around many many ideas.  Child psychologist, pediatrician, optometrist, marine biologist, teacher, architect, wedding planner.  I was definitely not one of those kids who knew what they were going to be their whole lives.  (My best friend growing up, Chauna, was the opposite though.  She knew she wanted to be a vet her whole life and now she is!  And she's making a lot more money than I am.  😂😂😂)  But even though my chosen career path isn't something I envisioned for myself, it works for me.  And in 10 years, who knows what I might be doing! 😉

FRIDAY FAVORITES #107 | BIRTHDAY EDITION

20 It's My Birthday Memes To Remind Your Friends | SayingImages.com

Tomorrow is my birthday.  I'll be 38 and it still seems like a crazy dream to think I'm that old.  I close my eyes and I still see myself at 21.  I seem to just have stopped aging (in my mind) around that time.  I mean honestly, life was pretty dang sweet at 21. ;)  Why would I want to age beyond 21?!

To celebrate, we'll be heading to the Packers/Cowboys game on Sunday with the boys and Uncle Ricky and this will be my kids' very first NFL game.  They are so pumped and I can't think of a better first game for them to see!  Craig and I will be flying to Green Bay NEXT weekend for the Monday night game up there but unfortunately, the boys can't come to that one.  But we both can't wait to show them Lambeau someday!

PAGEANTS, FOOTBALL, FRIENDS & THROWBACKS | NORTHWESTERN STATE WEEKEND

Welcome back, friends!

Last Wednesday, I told you all that I had fun plans for the weekend so I'm back today with a little recap!  In case you don't remember or didn't see that post, I was asked to judge my university's Miss Northwestern Lady of the Bracelet pageant on Friday so I decided to make a whole weekend out of it.

I went to school at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA.  (Sidenote: Natchitoches is pronounced "Nak-uh-tish"...not to be confused with Nacogdoches in TX where Stephen F. Austin is.)  Y'all, I've said it before but I had the BEST college experience.  I would do it all over again in a heartbeat with only a few minor changes. (I won't get into what those would be.  hahaha) Our college town is super quaint, cute and SMALL.  The speed limit is basically 25 mph almost everywhere.  And it's where they filmed Steel Magnolias so that's our claim to fame.
