FRIDAY FAVORITES: END OF SUMMER EDITION ☀

Goodbye, Summer! Hello...ok well not Fall. Not yet. But hello, new school year!

Right now our temps are soaring although they don't feel quite as hot as they have been in past years. We actually had a pretty mellow summer for Texas. I'm not even sure we've had any days over 100 degrees. (We probably have and I just chose to stay inside that day. 😂 Also, does talking about the weather bore you to tears? Yes? Ok, I'll move on.)

This week has been all about unpacking and readjusting to schedules. We just returned from a week in Branson, MO with my parents last Saturday. We had such an amazing little family trip! I can't wait to get my recap posted. Did you follow along on IG? I saved everything in a highlight bubble over there if you want to check it out.

Pretty sure I either annoyed the crap out of y'all with all our videos or you enjoyed it. Hoping for the latter. 😉

Let's just dive on into those Friday Favorites! As always, I'm linking up with my girls Erika and Andrea to dish about all the best things from our week.

I've been on this end-of-the-world movie kick lately (wonder why? 🤪) and honestly have been struggling to find ones I haven't already seen. Seriously. I think I've seen them all. But I stumbled across Knowing with Nicolas Cage and Rose Byrne the other night on Amazon Prime and it was pretty good!

I'd never heard of it before but it came out back in 2009. It's about a kid who finds a letter in a time capsule that his school buried 50 years before. The note is just a bunch of numbers that end up being predictions about huge tragedies over the next 50 years. (9/11, Oklahoma City, etc) There are two dates and locations left when they pull it from the time capsule...

I won't spoil anything from there but it was definitely one that kept me on the edge of my seat. I also definitely cried at the end. (Happy or sad tears...I'll let you watch to see.)

Anyway, it's on Amazon Prime and maybe Hulu too if you need something to watch this weekend!

Favorite product of the week goes to my new shampoo and conditioner! My hair has been growing super fast since I started my collagen back in October. HOWEVER, my hair has always had issues with breakage after it grows out to about chin length. I don't blowdry it or put heat on it but maybe once or twice a week and I get it highlighted only a few times a year. So I'm not sure what I'm doing to it but for the past few years or so it has been very prone to breakage. Sigh.

I've been using the Matrix Mega Sleek shampoo and conditioner for the past couple of years and I really do love it. It makes my hair super soft and tends to tame some of the frizzy. But after I saw an ad for this Redkin system on Instagram, I decided to swipe up and try it out. I posted this pic in my stories in case anyone else was needing something to help repair damaged hair too and so many of you replied back saying you already use it and you love it! I'm clearly a little late to the game.

I'm hoping I'll see less breakage and strong ends as the months roll by but I feel better knowing I'm using something that is designed to do just that.

And speaking of hair, I also just installed this filter for my showerhead. I was talking to my hair stylist about how my highlights go from light and bright to dull and flat really fast and we think it may have something to do with the water and all the mineral deposits and contaminants in it! Did you know that all of that can cause hair dullness, breakage (ahem!) and even hair loss?! These are things I've found during my googling. Who knew?!

Anyway, I grabbed a filter with good ratings off of Amazon and Craig installed it for me in about 5 minutes. The middle piece is the filter. I got this one for about 30 bucks on Amazon but they had a bunch of others...some cheaper, some more expensive.

I was worried that it would affect the water pressure or that I wouldn't be able to get the shampoo out of my hair because it would soften the water. (I hate when I go to a hotel or somewhere and I have to stand under the shower forever trying to get all the soap off me). But this didn't affect any of that. I can't tell a difference in the water pressure or its ability to get me clean at all. If you have a lot of limescale or mineral deposits around your shower head, you might want to check it out!

Y'all, I have TWO middle schoolers now! How?!!! Mason is in 6th and Matthew is in 8th and I'm literally watching them turn into young men right before my eyes. I am such a proud Mama Bear!

Matthew wanted to ride the bus this morning like he always does but several of Mason's buddies were meeting in the parking lot near the school so the moms could snap some pics and so they could all arrive together.

So I got more pics with Mason...

And he got pics with all his buddies. Look at this crew!

They hate getting their picture taken but when they are seniors, they'll be so much fun to compare.

Don't tell Mason I said this but I have a feeling he's going to look back on these pictures and regret this haircut someday. 😂 But it's what he likes and it's not hurting anyone so who am I to say anything! #sweetboy

After pics, we all jumped in our cars and waited in that carpool line...all vowing that it was the bus for these guys from now on! hahaha They are all totally ok with that, by the way.

Mason jumped out ready to go and I snapped the obligatory shot while he walked away.

And then I  headed to downtown Mckinney for our annual moms' breakfast at Spoons with one group of girlfriends and after I left there it was time for another little get-together with my neighborhood mamas for brunch!

By the way, my Branson shirt was a 12.99 impulse buy at a souvenir shop on our last day and I love it!! I've worn it three times this week already. 🤣 It's soft which is always great but I am really diggin' the retro vibe. My jeans are old. Like years and years old but I can't quit 'em. Flares are making a comeback and I'm here for it! It balances out my hips and booty. 🤪 These KanCans are SUPER similar though!

And speaking of friends, I grabbed dinner with one of my besties earlier this week to catch up after vacay and to celebrate her finishing grad school! (So proud of her!!) We had a great outdoor table overlooking all the action at Legacy Hall.

Our drinks were so pretty and my salad was LEGIT.

Not a bad view for one last dinner out before the chaos of the fall semester ensues!

Hey hey!! All of these Colleen Rothschild Best Sellers (plus a couple more I don't actually have) are on sale right now for 25% with the code BESTSELLERS!! There is a reason why these are all best sellers, y'all! You've heard me talk about them for years now and like I always say, when I find something I LOVE, I tend to be pretty darn loyal.

Like I always always always say: If you have to pick just ONE, go with the Radiant Cleansing Balm. It is the absolute best.

If you already have that, the Glycolic Acid Peel Pads are amazing and remind me of the Clearasil wipes we all used to use back in the day. 😉 They help remove dirt and oil but they also target fine lines and hyperpigmentation. I have a good amount of melasma on my forehead and it always gets worse in the summer because of the heat and sun so I've been using these religiously all summer. (I don't use them more than 3 times a week though.) All of this is fantastic though! If you want to check out my full blog post I did on my skincare routine, you can find that HERE

There's also a new collagen promo that ends TODAY! If you are a coffee drinker, you might be interested in this! Buy the coffee and creamer duo and get an entire 2nd box of coffee FREE.

The coffee is not just regular coffee either. Its designed to help boost attention and focus, help with memory and learning, and supports healthy brain aging. The creamer is keto-friendly too if you're into that and if you don't care about it being keto-friendly then you can just enjoy the benefits. :) If you know me, you know I don't do coffee without chocolate. I add a half scoop of hot cocoa mix or my chocolate whey protein powder to it, maybe a dash of milk or almond milk and the creamer and then give it a little frothing. (This is an inexpensive frother that works great!) I am not opposed to dropping in a spoonful of my chocolate trim either!

New customers get $10 off their first order, existing customers can get their discount through smartship (up to 15% off plus free shipping) and all orders placed for this OR a 2 pack of Biocell Liquid Collagen (my FAVE) will be entered to win a $250 Gift Card to Target too! (More about the collagen under the "collagen" tab in my header.) As always, I'm here to help any time with questions or if you want to make sure you're getting the best deal! Message me on IG for the quickest response time.

I thought this one was very appropriate for this week. I always try to jump the gun a little on Fall once school starts but for the first time, I am not feeling the crazy urge.

Now I reserve the right to fully retract this statement at any time. Like the second I walk into Hobby Lobby or Michaels I'm assuming. 😂 But as of right this second, I have no desire to pull out my orange throw pillows and pretty pumpkins and...ok I should stop because I can feel it rising now. haha

And that's it for today, y'all! I promise I'm going to try to get back onto a regular (ok semi-regular) blogging schedule now that life is settling back into a rhythm. We shall see... 🥴

Happy Friday, everyone!

  3. That salad may have cost $22, but it looks like it was worth every penny. Hope your boys had a great first week!

    1. Bahahahahaa! After you said that I was like, “Wait. DID it cost $22?!”. 🤣 I went back to look and it was only $13.95 which I now feel was a total steal. 🤣🤣🤣 I would have absolutely paid $22 for it. They should totally raise the price but please don’t tell them. 😜
