FRIDAY FAVORITES! | 6/25/21

Happy Weekend, friends!!

I'm back today with a list of FAVORITES from the week and I mean, I'm clearly biased, but I think it's a pretty great list. 😉 From a movie you need to watch this weekend to a book you need to read (or listen to) to cute outfits (and a BOGO free sale) and some giant waterslide fun... it's a little mix of everything!

Let's get to it!

Oh my gosh, y'all. I watched Fatherhood with Kevin Hart this week on Netflix and I bawled my eyes out but also laughed so hard. The cast is great, the story is great, it's sad, it's sweet, it's funny. You just NEED to watch it.

It's about a man who has to raise his daughter all alone after his precious wife dies the day after she gives birth. (No that's not a spoiler... it's the whole premise of the movie.) He's got a mom and mother-in-law who are worried about his ability to handle this and friends who are a little bit ridiculous but in a sweet way.

Watch it!! (Just have a few tissues handy as well.)

I've read a lot of great books lately but since we're talking about THIS week, I've got to go with the one I just finished.

The Last Thing He Told Me is a Reese Witherspoon Book Club pick and I can definitely see it being made into a movie. Here's what it's about.

Before Owen Michaels disappears, he smuggles a note to his beloved wife of one year: Protect her. Despite her confusion and fear, Hannah Hall knows exactly to whom the note refers—Owen’s sixteen-year-old daughter, Bailey. Bailey, who lost her mother tragically as a child. Bailey, who wants absolutely nothing to do with her new stepmother.

As Hannah’s increasingly desperate calls to Owen go unanswered, as the FBI arrests Owen’s boss, as a US marshal and federal agents arrive at her Sausalito home unannounced, Hannah quickly realizes her husband isn’t who he said he was. And that Bailey just may hold the key to figuring out Owen’s true identity—and why he really disappeared.

Hannah and Bailey set out to discover the truth. But as they start putting together the pieces of Owen’s past, they soon realize they’re also building a new future—one neither of them could have anticipated.

With its breakneck pacing, dizzying plot twists, and evocative family drama, The Last Thing He Told Me is a riveting mystery, certain to shock you with its final, heartbreaking turn.

To be completely honest, I only gave this book 4 stars. I thought it was really good but it could have been great. Don't you hate when you feel that way? Still worth the read though!! I just would have ended it differently I think.

If you want a 5-star book, go with Golden Girl by Elin Hilderbrand. I'll have another full book review soon but until then...these are two great recs!

I posted these on IG earlier this week so you may have seen them there already but they are delicious! If you are looking for a keto or low-carb dessert, check these out!! I already love the chocolate chip and snickerdoodle ones but when I saw they now had lemon and vanilla wafers, it was an "add to cart" situation immediately.

You can find all the flavors HERE.

This week we celebrated April and May birthdays with a giant waterslide and a pool full of middle school boys. I feel like it's pretty safe to say that a good time was had by all.

Mason turned 11 in April...

...and Matthew turned 13 in May.

Chuck had his first Gotcha Day this week too and we also declared it his birthday since we don't actually know it. So we're saying that he turned 4 (although it's just a guess..he could be 3?). (He also got a haircut in between the above picture and the one below.)

Love all my boys!! I'll have more birthday pics next week.

I've mentioned a couple of times now that I'm a new Stylist with the cutest boutique and they are having a Buy One Get One Free sale on their America's Sweetheart Collection starting today at 8am PST and it ends tomorrow at 8pm PST. They have some of the cutest stuff for the 4th of July in the collection so if you've been wondering what to wear to that Independence Day BBQ or parade, click on over and check it all out! Everything ships FREE!!

You can shop the full boutique HERE.
Now speaking of cute clothes, I actually remembered to take pictures of the (few) times that I actually looked presentable lately!

I showed y'all this on Monday but I seriously love the Tiger tee. (Wearing a small.)

The black joggers are going to be worn for the rest of my life most likely. I sized up to a medium in these but a small probably would have worked as well. I just didn't want them too tight on my booty. ;) The sandals have just become my new favorite purchase. I have been wearing them nonstop. I got them in nude but they also come in white or black. Super cute and just $35.

I love the embroidery and the colors in this top so much! It reminds me of Mexico and definitely gives me vacay vibes! This one is just about to sell out and is only left in the small! (I'm wearing a small.)

More of the sandals...I love that they go with almost everything.

Crazy comfy tee HERE

I've said it before and I'll say it again but the duster/kimono look is kind of my summer uniform this year. I'm wearing this one but they have several really really cute options that have come out since I got this one.  (See them all here. I'm telling you...such cute options!)

And I also got these gold hoops too. They go with everything and they were just $15.

Don't forget that they offer free shipping on everything! Drop my name (Amanda Nall) as your stylist if you feel obliged! ;)

What have y'all been watching lately?! For me it's been a lot of:

Real Housewives of NYC & BH
MasterChef
Hell's Kitchen (we love Gordon Ramsey!)
Emergency Call

I'm waiting impatiently for Big Brother to start and the Olympics!!

And are y'all following the Britney news?! I have been a HUGE Britney fan since she was a Mouseketeer and her mental breakdown was so heartbreaking. I understand why she was placed under a conservatorship but DANG. Let the girl breathe! While I don't think her Instagram account is helping her case at all, I do think that her testimony was incredibly heartbreaking and moving. Did you listen to it?  I kept thinking, "Take a breath, girl! Breathe!" The things she mentioned like not even being able to take out her IUD if she wanted to was insane! She's clearly got some mental issues but it doesn't seem to be anything that warrants her being locked away and treated like a child for the rest of her life. She's like a real-life Rapunzel. It will be interesting to see what happens with this but I feel like Britney feels an enormous weight off her chest now that she's gotten all that out for the world to hear.

Happy Friday, friends! Here's to a great summer weekend!

    2. The movie is based on a true story. Matt Logelin used to blog and then wrote a book which is the story behind the movie. It’s a great book that will make you cry too.

    4. My friend mentioned that the other day! I remember hearing about him years ago. I never read the book but I remember looking him up on IG. I had no idea it was the same story! I cannot read the book. The movie was sad enough AND I'm currently reading another book about a woman who died too young. My heart can't take all of it!

  2. I’m so glad you said about Britney’s Instagram not helping her....I totally agree.....and the fact that she commented that I know you all see me on Instagram and think my life is perfect or words to that affect...I was just thinking oh no hun, your Instagram confirms that you do have some mental issues going on.....but it still begs the question...even with some mental issues, this Conservatorship seems way, way overboard....a very sad situation.

    1. Yes to all of this!! NO ONE thinks your life is anything but awful right now, girlfriend. That's why we're all "free britney"! Obviously, I am just a spectator like we all are but we've been told she has bipolar disorder, anxiety, depression...these are things that can be managed this day and age. She looks manic in her dancing videos and the oversexualized outfits, raggedy hair and dark, smudged eye makeup...it's just not good. So many people think that someone else is posting to her IG for her to make her look crazy but I feel like it's the opposite. Someone is LETTING her post to her IG to make her look crazy. I think she needs a clean sweep from the doctors and therapists she has. I think she needs FRIENDS. Like real, honest, NORMAL, genuine friends. She needs a good girls night out or even just a fun night by the pool at home. She needs a stylist, a spa day and some time with Jennifer Aniston's hair guy maybe. 😬 These are clearly all things she can afford with the money she has worked so hard for over all these years. It blows my mind that she isn't allowed to do these things. They treat her like she's a lost cause. We all know she needed help back in the day and the conservatorship was probably a good call back then. But they have taken it WAY too far. For her to be treated this way, I feel like she would have to be severely mentally ill almost to the point of incapacitation. And we can all see that's not the case. She will always need help managing her finances and bills, household things, etc but most uber-rich people have help with that too. And she'll always struggle mentally. But goodness gracious, let the girl live! She must be so scared for her not to have stood up to these people in 13 years. I'm sure she thought if she did, she'd be thrown in another rehab. It is so depressing to watch. I hope the judge makes the right call for her.

    2. Yes, yes, yes.....I agree with you so much....she could have so much more freedom but still be taken care of so to speak...There is such a wide gulf between that and what is actually happening...and the fact that paying everyone is coming out of her money that she has no say over....blows my mind....new doctors needed, new therapists, new financial people, new lawyers, new judge, new parents🤷‍♀️...ha ha

  4. YES the Britney news has been shocking. I guess we all knew something was going on but never ever did I think it was that bad. Love your outfits especially that embroidered top.

    1. Right?! I always assumed she was just kind of introverted and it was hard for her to make real friends but to know she's basically being imprisoned is just hard to understand since her issues don't seem THAT severe. And thank you!
