DRUNK ELEPHANT SKINCARE REVIEW

Happy Friday!!  Today is a special day because I've got a product review for you!  I haven't done one of these in a while so I'm excited!

Today I'm sharing all my thoughts on the Drunk Elephant Skincare line and y'all...it's kind of amazing.  And I'm not the only one who thinks so.  This product line has amazing buzz and reviews right now.  I know it won't be the last time you hear about them.

So why Drunk Elephant? (And what is with that name?!)

Well lately, I've been hearing about this product line everywhere I turn.  Vloggers on YouTube are raving about it, I'm seeing it talked about on beauty blogs and in beauty groups on Facebook.  I even had a friend text me about it a while back to see if I had ever tried it.  She had just started using it and was flat out obsessed.  So I decided to give it a shot.

{Sidenote:  I wasn't paid to review these products.  I wasn't given anything for free or even at a discount.  Although, I'm totally open to that. ;)  I just wanted you to know that before I get started.}

Ok.  So my first question was what is with this name?!  Drunk Elephant?  Surely there was a story behind it.

Here's what they have to say about that:

The name Drunk Elephant is rooted in a myth that says elephants love to eat the fruit that has fallen from Marula trees where inside their very large tummies it ferments making the elephants drunk! We encourage you to "further research" this subject by searching "drunk elephants" on YouTube!

For the record, I did YouTube that and it was pretty funny but only if you've got several minutes to spare.  If you don't, just picture a blurry video of elephants falling down.  haha  The company's Marula Oil is, what they believe to be, the best, most potent of all the other marula oils on the market.

So my next question was which products to try out!  They have a pretty big line to choose from and I was having a hard time narrowing it down.  I didn't want to spend a ton of money on a product I may end up hating and I also wanted to try a variety of them to see what I liked best.

They have the perfect solution to this problem.  You can get this travel pack with 8 of their best selling products so you can try them all and see what you like!

Done and done.

You can find the line in several places (JCPenney, Sephora, Amazon) and all were the exact same price.  I went with Amazon because they had FREE ONE-DAY DELIVERY and that makes all the difference.  When I get excited about something, I want it NOW.  (#brat)

Here's how my bag of "littles" came.  So cute.  Great packaging.

I love that they all came in this little pink pouch.

And here is what was inside.  Now I will say that these are definitely little.  But I really think they'll last a good while.  And again, I loved the packaging and all the colors.  A+.

Here's a list of which products came in the bag.  I'm going to link them all below so you can click over to the product page if you want and read more about them.

One other thing I wanted to mention about these products is that they don't have any of what the company calls "The Suspicious 6" ingredients in them.  Here's what they have to say about that.

Drunk Elephant is committed to using only ingredients that either directly benefit the skin’s health or support the integrity and effectiveness of our formulations. We never take into account an ingredient’s synthetic or natural status, but instead choose based on biocompatibility. You won’t find what we call the “Suspicious 6” in our products (Essential Oils, Drying Alcohols, Silicones, Chemical Screens, Fragrance/Dyes and SLS,) making them, in our opinion, appropriate for all skin. We believe that these six ubiquitous ingredients are at the root of almost every skin issue we see. When formulating the products, we focus on pH levels and safety, and always making sure that the active ingredients are at efficacious levels. This is the Drunk Elephant difference.

Sounds good to me!

I was so excited to try these out!  I started with the gel cleanser.

I use my Clarisonic several times a week so I decided this would be one of those times.  (For the record, I love my Clarisonic but you get similar ones like this one here for a fraction of the price.  Like $20 as opposed to $120 and it has great reviews and free shipping.)

Anyway, I've also been using these day-of-the-week microfiber washcloths and if you are in my FB Daily Deals group, you are probably tired of hearing me rave about them.  (I'm sorry!!)  But they clean my face so much better than a regular washcloth and are crazy soft.  Plus they come in a 7 pack, in all different colors, with a day of the week embroidered on each one.  And did I mention they are on sale for $9.99 right now HERE?  You will love them.

I wanted to snap a picture to show you how well the gel cleanser lathers too.

I really love this cleanser.  My face feels incredibly smooth and fresh after I use it but isn't dry or tight either.  It's a perfect balance.  Thumbs up for sure.

My nighttime routine uses all of these products below.

I had to do a little investigating to see which products I was supposed to mix with what and when.  But I realized that they are all made to go together so you really can't go wrong.

Obviously, the T.L.C. Night Serum is for night.  So that was easy to figure out. This serum is supposed to refine and resurface skin for a smoother and more radiant complexion.  It says some tingling may occur the first few times but I didn't have that.

Great for those who have dullness or uneven texture, large pores or uneven skin tone.  (I have all of that.)

They say to mix the Night Serum with the Marula Oil to maximize benefits so I do 1 pump of the Night Serum, 1 pump of the Marula Oil and then add in a pump of B-Hydra.

The Marula Oil is something I've been hearing about lately but I've never used a facial oil before.  That just sounds like a breakout waiting to happen for me!  But I haven't broken out at all with this stuff.  It is meant to help soothe, moisturize and nourish your skin and helps with dryness, uneven skin tone and fine lines and wrinkles.

And the B-Hydra is basically a B Vitamin serum that works with other oils, serums and lotions to lock in moisture and give you a little glow.

So I mix those three together and smooth them over my face and neck and push them into my skin.  (They feel AMAZING on your face.)

And then, I top it off with the Lala Retro cream.  This is your moisturizer.

It is a thick cream but so smooth and luxurious.  You can mix this with a pump of B-Hydra as well for extra hydration.  But this cream really locks in all the other serums and it is like a drink of water for your face.

This is great for your hands as well.  All of them are actually.  But this will bring instant relief to dry hands.

You can see a little bit of the slightly whipped texture here.  A little goes a long way!

And last but not least, I use the eye serum.

I feel like eye serums and creams are always hard to judge because, for me, my eyes are the hardest to deal with in terms of lines, wrinkles, puffiness etc.  But I will say that even though I haven't noticed a big change in my eyes yet, I do like the texture of the serum.  It looks like a lotion but smooths on like more of a serum.  And you only need half a pump to cover both eyes.  A little goes a very long way.

So that's my nighttime routine.  In the morning, my face always looks healthy and glowing but not greasy.  Super happy with all of those.

And for the morning, here's what it looks like...

I wash my face with the gel cleanser and then basically do the same thing I do at night, except I replace the Night Serum with the C-Firma Day Serum.

This is a super potent Vitamin C serum that works to correct uneven skin tone, dullness and loss of firmness and elasticity.  Vitamin C serums are incredibly popular right now so if you aren't using one right now, you should start!

This one is probably the most popular one on the market right now and is cheaper if you are looking to try one.

But back to the Drunk Elephant goodies.  :)  I mix a drop or two of each of those three serums and press them into my face and then let my face dry for a minute. And then I apply the sunscreen.  And I do love the sunscreen.  It goes on sheer but almost has a slight tint to it so you get no trace of that white, pasty look.  It isn't greasy either.

THE VERDICT

I have 100% found my new skincare routine.  I love all of these products.  They all feel incredible on my skin, haven't broken me out at all, are made from all the good stuff so no worries on any toxins and best of all, I can already see a change!  This is the determining factor for me because with most skincare, I honestly can't ever tell a difference.  I use it because I'm supposed to but I'm really thinking "Is this ACTUALLY doing anything?".  With Drunk Elephant though, I can already see changes.  And that makes me happy.

It's only been (not even) 2 weeks and almost immediately, I noticed my skin beginning to look more even, my stupid dark spots all over my forehead were starting to fade and my skin just looked so much healthier!  I literally had that glow they talk about.  At first, I thought maybe I'd somehow gotten a tan on my face because it was looking so even but it's my actual skin tone that's changing.  These products were the difference maker, no doubt.  I can't wait to see how everything looks in a couple of months.

And don't get scared off by thinking that it sounds like too much at night and in the morning.  It's really not.  It's basically a pump or two of the Night Serum/Marula Oil/B-Hydra at night (followed up with the moisturizer and eye cream) and a pump or two of the Day Serum/Marula Oil/B-Hydra.  Just rub them together on your fingertips and apply!

Once these run out, I will definitely be purchasing more of the moisturizer (Lala Retro Whipped Cream), the TLC Night Serum, the Marula Oil and the B-Hydra.  I may use the cheaper brand Vitamin C serum to see how it compares before I purchase the C-Firma.  But I'll definitely continue using some kind of Vitamin C.  And then there's that great cleanser too...  I'll probably end up with the whole line at some point.

If you want to try these out, in the Littles package like I did, you can find them HERE on Amazon or HERE at Sephora.  (Same price at either place.  You'll just get it sooner with Amazon Prime.)

If you aren't ready to commit to the Littles Package, they have little duos in both the travel sizes and the full sizes.  The travel size duos are only $23 and $28.

Day Duo HERE
Night Duo HERE

All in all, this is absolutely, 100% worth trying out.  I suggest starting with the Littles Travel Kit like I got for sure, but any of the products are amazing.

I'm also eager to try out the TLC Sukari Babyfacial next.  I've heard it is amazing!  It's one of the most popular products.

And since this is a skincare post, I wanted to show you some of my other favorite products.

I've talked about this face mask before and I still love it!  I ended up with it at one of our gift exchange parties and have been devoted to it ever since.  You can find it here or at CVS/Walgreens/Walmart etc.

It leaves your face feeling so smooth and clean!

Funnily enough, I also got this at one of our gift exchange parties! I couldn't find this smaller size on Amazon but Target carries it I know.

FAVORITE MICRODERM PASTE

I love Rodan + Fields microdermabrasion paste!  It has always been my favorite R + F product.

In the winter, when my skin is dry dry dry, this Clinique Moisture Surge is my absolute favorite.  It so thick, rich, and creamy.  Perfect to rehydrate dry skin.

Skincare is one of those things that I am ok splurging on...within reason.  Most serums and lotions last a really long time and if they actually improve the appearance of my skin like they promise, then I'll shell out some hard-earned money for that.

Have you tried any of these products?  What do you think?  Let me know in the comments!
