FRIDAY FAVORITES #82

HAPPY FRIDAY BEFORE CHRISTMAS!!!

Merry Christmas, y'all! christmas hand lettering advent

I can't believe Christmas is only a few days away!!  It sneaks up on me every single year and it makes me sad every single year when I realize it's almost over.  Who can we write to to get the Christmas season extended?

Today, I've got to get all my last minute shopping done and then hustle over to the school by 2 to split my time between both boys' Christmas parties.  Sounds super fun, right?!  ;)  I'm not gonna lie.  I have "Bad Mom" moments occasionally throughout the year and it tends hit hard around the final few days before Christmas.  I mean, I still don't even have teacher gifts for my kids' teachers and I literally MAKE THEM FOR A LIVING.  (Please don't judge me.)  This is also what I'll be doing before the parties today.

If you read my blog post from Wednesday, you know that I've had some pretty annoying back issues this week which has definitely thrown off my schedule.  We had to miss the Christmas parade downtown last night because there was just no way I could stand around for that long.  My kids were completely ok with this by the way so no worries there and Craig just gave me a high five and a thankful look.  haha.  And then forced more Advil into my hand and told me to go lay down.  They say opposites attract but Craig and I are very much on the same page when it comes to our laid-back personalities.  #thankfullyitworks

My back is feeling much better though (compared to what it was) so I'm hoping I'll be able to get my shopping done and get to the parties without keeling over like the little old lady I've felt like for the past few days. :)

Anyway.  Today is Friday Favorites day as always, I'm linking up with Erika, Narci and Andrea and sharing my favorite picks from the week!

Last year, I posted my thoughts on Home Alone.  Does anyone remember that one?  I had QUESTIONS, y'all.  haha  And I was determined to talk it out.  Some of the questions I tackled were:

Why does no one blame Heather?  This is clearly all her fault.
Why can Kevin's dad call the neighbor but not his own house?
How does the airline not notice they have one extra ticket and are missing a passenger?  (that's a good one)
Does it bother anyone else that Kate never fully explains the situation to the cops?

If you love Home Alone, then you need to READ THIS POST.  It is one of my favorite ones from last year and it is most definitely worth pointing you towards again this Christmas.

I have been in a TV/movie habit lately instead of listening/"reading" like I normally do.  I've been all about The New Girl and all the Christmas movies.  But yesterday, I decided to download a new audiobook (because audiobooks are the only way to go for this busy mom) and after wayyyyyyy too long staring at my choices, I decided to go for Where the Crawdads Sing because of all the hype it's gotten lately.  So I downloaded it and then went on over to Goodreads to update my reading list so I can keep track of all my books.  And as I was adding in my new pick, I saw that someone in my feed had added a book called "I'll Be There For You".  And I stopped in my tracks and examined it closer.

It was a book about my favorite TV show of all time.  Friends.  This book has all the behind-the-scenes stuff you never knew about like how each actor ended up being cast, their thoughts on their characters and how they chose to evolve them and why Friends has become the go-to show for so many of us when we need to just escape from the heavy stuff going on in the world.

I'm only on Chapter 7 so I can't tell you that this will be the best book I've ever read.   But I'm not expecting that.  I just want to hear more about how Jennifer Aniston ended up as Rachel Green and why Courtney Cox turned down the chance to play Rachel and insisted she was right for Monica.  And did you know that Matthew LeBlanc auditioned for Joey hung over and with a bloody nose?!  Things like that are in here and it's so fun to read about.

I'm loving hearing some scoop about my favorite group of "friends".  The narrator has a great voice too if you are also an audiobook fan.

As of right now (as I type this), it's still available to get to you before Christmas so this could be a great little gift for another Friends lover in your life!

Y'all know I love a good Amazon find and so the other day, I came across these buffalo plaid refrigerator handle covers.  I mean, how did I not know these existed?!  For $15, I got 3 covers and they should be in today!  I'm kind of excited!

For starters, I love anything buffalo plaid.  (Have y'all seen my Daily Deals FB group posts?  50% of them have to do with buffalo plaid.  Seriously.)

But also, when you have 2 young boys, then you get that those handles are always a HOT MESS.  Sticky, greasy, crusty and full of fingerprints and smudges.  I'm hoping these will cut down on some of that.  Plus, they are cute!  And I can keep them up all winter.  Buffalo plaid isn't just for Christmas, y'all!

Speaking of deals, have you scrolled through my Deals blog from this week yet?  If you haven't, you should!  I found tons of great deals for y'all this week plus some great gift ideas.  I probably won't be back on the Deals blog until next week sometime because of all the stuff going on tomorrow and us traveling this weekend, but keep an eye out for quick deals in the Facebook Group!

A few quick examples...

These hoodies are supposedly crazy soft and so cute!  Great reviews and a great price!  #weloveJane

I bought these red/white polka dot jammies the last time they were on Jane, and they are back!  (And selling out SUPER fast!)  But I love them so much that I went back and ordered a second pair.  I'm typically a size 6 so I got the medium and they are a tiny bit roomy but it's what makes them so freaking comfortable.  That plus the material.  It's kind of a stretchy, silky smooth material that hangs perfectly.  I adore them.  I ordered the grey polka dots this time and the reviews say they are a touch see through but not bad.  I can live with that.

And Jane has become my go-to for all my graphic tee needs.  I love these happy tees.  I have one with the "take the trip" saying on it and love it.  It's just SO TRUE.

That's all for today, friends!!  From the very bottom of my heart, I want to thank you all for welcoming me into this little blogging community over the past two years and for hanging out with me over in the spinoff group on Facebook. It has been a great year and I hope you keep coming back to for more as we enter into 2019!

Wishing you all a very very Merry Christmas!!

  4. Merry Christmas to you and yours Amanda! I am going to have to get my hands (or ears) on that Friends book. That is my favorite show and I don't know what I am going to do when Netflix takes it off. AH! Enjoy your day and the classroom parties. I love that your husband high-fived you for not going to the parade...I am pretty sure that is the exact reaction I would get! Ha!
