FRIDAY FAVORITES! #134

Happy Friday!! It has been a scorcher here in Mckinney this week. The kind where you open the front door and immediately get pushed back inside by an invisible fire. Seriously.

When someone asks me how hot it is where I live, I send them this photo... funny summer memes hot meme humor funny memes summer memes

The other day the kids got out of the pool because it was too hot to swim, they said. That's when you know its hot! 😂😂 I think the heat index got up to 108 at some point but as I type this, the temp is 98 and my weather app tells me "it feels like 106." So let's just say one of my Friday Favorites today is AIR CONDITIONING. 2020--please don't take that away from me too somehow!!

But speaking of Favorites, I've got a whole new set of them for you today! I decided to give it a different flair this time to give you a better mix than just "stuff". So here are a few favorites from this week in a bunch of different categories.

FAVORITE MOVIE THIS WEEK:

I watched Eurovision this week on Netflix while I was painting a slew of wood signs and y'all...this movie was flippin' adorable!! I absolutely adore Rachel McAdams. She can do no wrong in my eyes.  But I would never think to pair her with Will Ferrell in one of his goofy movies! It seemed like such an odd couple when I first saw previews that I actually skipped over for a while before deciding to just watch it.

I like most of Will Ferrell's stuff but I definitely have to be in the mood for something ridiculous and funny to really enjoy it. Stepbrothers and Talladega Nights are two of my faves that I could watch over and over again.

This is definitely a silly, goofy, Ferrell-style movie but the story is actually very sweet, and it's based loosely on the real Eurovision singing competition in Europe. (Kind of like American Idol I think.)

Lars (Ferrell) and Sigrit (McAdams) are childhood best friends from Iceland who have grown up singing together and their dream is to win Eurovision. It's all they think about and all they've worked for. Unfortunately, most of their performances are plagued with (hilarious) bad luck even though their singing is REALLY good! Pierce Brosnan and Demi Lovato also have small roles in the movie.

You definitely need to be in the mood to watch something funny and a little ridiculous in order to appreciate this one but it'll also surprise you with some #feels.  I literally teared up in some places and Rachel's singing (not really her but a Swedish singer)...oh my gosh. CHILLS! Her voice was insanely beautiful and the song she sings at the end was very reminiscent of Never Enough from The Greatest Showman. Plus, you get to see some gorgeous Icelandic scenery.

If you and/or your hubby need a cute one to watch this weekend, I'd choose this! I was not expecting to like it as much as I did at all!! I actually ended up googling to find out who had that gorgeous voice of Sigrit's and watched a few videos on her.

Have you watched this yet? Did you like it?!

FAVORITE BINGE WATCH:

First Look At The Neighborhood on CBS - YouTube

Since I listened to 8 audiobooks last month, I wanted to take a break and find something to binge. I've seen a few episodes here and there of The Neighborhood over the past couple of years but never set it to record or had it as one of "my shows". But when I was looking through Amazon Prime to see what all I could find there, I saw that they had Seasons 1 & 2 available so I decided to give it a go. I love Max Greenfield from The New Girl (also a PERFECT binge watch!!) and Cedric the Entertainer is always hilarious. Plus, it's got Beth Behrs from Two Broke Girls (the blonde one) and I really liked her and that show when it was on.

So I ended up binging both seasons this week and now I miss it!!  I have a hard time finding new comedies that I really like. If the jokes feel forced or the acting isn't good, I'm done. But this show was honestly funny and the chemistry between the cast is perfect. I had to check to see if it got renewed for season 3 and it did! Yay!! I hate it when they cancel the good ones!

FAVORITE BOOK OF THE WEEK:

Always the Last to Know: Higgins, Kristan: 9780451489456: Amazon.com: Books

Oh my gosh, I feel like I've been reading this book forever!! I think I told y'all about it a couple of months ago. I was able to score advanced copies of some not-yet-released books but ARCs are almost always sent as digital copies for your Kindle. Y'all know I'm an audiobook girl except for when I'm on vacation or sitting by the pool in the evenings (when it's cool enough).  Kindle reading takes longer than audiobook listening.

So the first one I read was The Lies That Bind by Emily Giffin, which I reviewed in May's book review HERE. I do feel like it's not fair that I finished that book in 6 hours straight and this one has taken 2 months.  But I couldn't put that one down! And also, the weather was perfect that night and I was able to relax and enjoy without sweating my butt off.

So then I started Always the Last to Know by Kristan Higgins, who is one of my favorite authors, and somehow just got sidetracked with those 8 other books I listened to in June!  Also, it got HOT in my cozy little sunroom and the mosquitos started eating me in the evenings when I was out by the pool so it just wasn't as relaxing as it was in May. And thus...my 2-month journey to finish this awesome book. 😂

(I finally got a new fan in to help give me some more air circulation in here and it's helping a lot.)

The fact that it has taken me this long to finish this book should not be held against it at all. This is a GREAT BOOK!! And every time I DID pick it up, I was reading for long chunks of time. The only reason I quit was usually because my eyes were scratchy and tired and it was time for bed. Not because I wanted to.

I finally finished it and it's a 5-star summer read, girls! Just like all her books. I'll give it a full review in my July Book Review but you can check it out more here. If you love stories about families, high school sweethearts finding each other again, beach towns, and all that other good stuff, pick this one up!

And in case you missed it, I posted June's Book Review earlier this week!

FAVORITE PICTURES OF THE WEEK:

Oh my sweet Charlie has been stealing the limelight lately! If you're new around here, we adopted Charlie from a rescue almost 4 weeks ago now and he are all obsessed with him and his spunky little personality. I seriously can't stop taking pictures of him. I try not to be annoying and post nothing but dog pictures but its hard. 😂

For those of you with older kids, you know that it's just not the same with them and pictures like it was when they were adorable and small. Now, instead of looking precious and sweet while holding their favorite car/doll and chasing bubbles in the backyard, they just look messy and bored/annoyed when Mom comes in wanting a picture while they are eating chips straight from the bag and playing video games. 😂 And usually, I just don't even take one because of said messiness and company.

But my little Charlie Bear is more than happy to give me the pictures and content I need! Haha.

The boys are actually happy to smile for me when Charlie's around too. They want their picture taken with their buddy so they can use it as wallpaper on their phones!

I mean...I just want to curl up in those pillows with him!

He's also been a great work buddy and keeps me company while I'm working on all my Etsy orders up here in my craft room. (Yes, that is a child's Ikea table on plastic risers...😂😂 My craft room is a hodge podge of random stuff that works for me but isn't exactly something you'd pin to your beautiful Craft Room Pinterest board. 😉)

Also, the obligatory "Mom, I'm in the cage!" picture. 😂

Charlie is just the best and even though it hasn't even been a full month yet, he feels like he's always been part of our family.

FAVORITE FASHION THIS WEEK:

Ok, in all honesty, I haven't actually gotten "dressed" this week so I don't have much to say about this category from this week. So I'm pulling from the most recent time I fixed myself up all the way. I realized I never shared my outfit from the 4th of July that I loved so much over here on the blog! (I did share it in the Deals Group though in case you've seen this before.)

I am loving the long kimono over shorts and a tank this summer. I'm here for it with its boho chic vibes and pretty colors!

I got this kimono on Amazon and since it kind of reminded me of fireworks, I pulled it out for the 4th!

I paired it with my favorite camisole from Target, jean shorts (no longer available) and those fun hoop earrings I've told you about before! I got this 12 pack for under $15 but right now (as I type this) they are on sale for $13.99 PLUS they have a little 5% off clickable coupon with them too. That makes them barely over $1 a pair. Total score if you ask me.

Also, I have no clue why they send you two pairs of the yellow but you can give one to a friend. 😉

Here's one more pic a little closer up.

FAVORITE PRODUCTS FROM MY ETSY SHOP:

The skinny can coolers are slowly making their way back in stock!!  Right now I have them in limited quantities in both the glitter blush and the glitter white but hopefully they will be fully restocked by the end of the month. I can only go on what we're told by the supplier and they've changed the dates so many times that this is just a guess but we'll see.  So if you've been wanting one, go NOW!! The white ones look gorgeous with all the vinyl colors and the blush ones are perfect with white, turquoise/mint or the opal colors.

I also have tumblers in the glitter blush...

And favorite signs from this week are...

These cute mini signs are adorable for a little pop of something sweet to brighten up any room.

And signs for teachers are always a big mover and shaker in the shop!

You can find all my signs, drinkware, coozies, burlap prints and cork and leather earrings HERE! Thank you for being the best customers!!! I love reading your little notes with your orders that let me know you read the blog!

I love how "real" you are with your blog. You are not pretentious or anything. I feel like a number of blogs I read are used as a platform to show off material possessions but I never get that vibe from your blog. Keep up the good work :).

  5. Have you tried putting peanut butter in Charlie’s Kong and freezing it?! My pup loves that and it keeps her busy for longer!

    1. I have to tell you what happened when I did this! So I did this after I read your comment on Friday and Charlie was loving it! UNTIL it thawed out and once again became regular peanut butter consistency. He bit down on the Kong and some of the peanut butter snaked its way out of the tip and he dropped it and RAN! 🤣🤣🤣 I think he thought there was something alive in it like a snake or something! He was scared to death of it after that!! He wouldn't go near it for the rest of the day!! I was laughing so hard!

  7. I need to suggest that movie to my husband: he likes Will Ferrell movies and it sounds like fun. Going to have to wear my kimonos again with shorts: haven't paired them together in a while.

  9. Yes, this heat is stifling this year. The rain here in NC making it super humid is not helping. Those cups and signs are adorable. I have used the Mega Sleek but I am currently on an Alba Botanica Coconut kick right now.
