This & That Monday.

Oh my goodness!  Today is our last Monday before our life does a complete 180 and we get back to regularly scheduled programming!  School FINALLY starts next Monday and yeah...we are officially ready.

I'll be honest and say that although I will miss sleeping in and not having to be somewhere all.the.time, I am done with summer.  Those 100-degree temps have hit us in full force which means it's too hot to even go swimming until at least 6pm and the boys are playing Minecraft and watching Jessie re-runs way too much.

And I'm tired of pretending to care.  ;)

So yay for our last week of summer but boo to only one more week of getting to stay up until 1am watching Friends reruns and waking up at 9am.  (I am worthless without 8 hours of sleep...it doesn't really matter where those hours fall though as long as it equals 8.)

We have tried to do be as lazy as possible this weekend.  ;)  And when I say "we", I really mean everyone but me.

Here are my two little monsters doing what they love best...

I think they know their time with Minecraft is limited...

While I was pretending I didn't know they were taking advantage of all the screen time, I decided to try to get into this book again.

I started it late this summer but when we left for our beach trip, I ditched it for something light hearted and fun. (This!)

So now, I'm back to it!  I'm finally in deep enough to where I'm invested so I can't wait to see what this girl's secret is!!  I'm hoping to get more reading time by the pool this week.  (For all the books I've read this summer, check out my reviews here!)

Friday night, the boys wanted to have a "Dude Party" with Dad which was a-ok with me!  ;)  I'm not scared to admit I don't mind a Dude Party.  It means Craig sleeps upstairs with the boys (Matthew has a King bed) and I get our whole bed to myself and can watch whatever I want.  And there's no snoring.  ;)

I know I've posted their rules before but it's just too funny!

So when I went upstairs to Matthew's room on Saturday morning, this is what I found.

Bed stripped, two tents squished together and both boys hiding out where they had slept the night before.  I can't remember where we got these tents from but you can find similar ones here and here. (<------- I love the shark one!)  They are easy pop-up tents that you can fold up and slip under a bed in 5 seconds.  I LOVE these things!  And so do my kids.  Indoor camping is the best!  ;)  I think Santa brought these last year and they have been a hit all year long.

Saturday afternoon was the "getting to know you" team party for our fall baseball team. Mason is on a new team this season which is usually a little intimidating but we transferred over with Smith, Nixon and Matthew and Mason's buddy from across the street, Asher.  So that makes it more fun.  But we had a really great time and our new team is going to be so much fun!!

That's Mason flying through the air!

And of course, he's the one flipping down the slide.

They also had some whiffle ball games in between dips in the pool.

Y'all probably know by now that I hate to cook but I DO IT.  I just would rather be doing almost anything else.  But I did sign up to bring some mac n cheese to the party so I busted out my baked mac n cheese because it is my favorite.

I'll post the recipe tomorrow!  It's SO EASY (seriously, if it wasn't, I wouldn't do it!) and it is delicious!  I serve this as a side at Thanksgiving every year and bring it to potlucks and it's always a hit.

Sunday we went to church and said goodbye to our amazing interim pastor, Warren Samuels.  Next week, our new pastor (Sam Holm) will start and we are so excited.  After church, we grabbed lunch at Applebees (Matthew's choice since he is our most particular eater) and then headed home.

I love that we have a laid back church where everyone wears everything from dresses and heels to jeans and sweatshirts.  I love this top (on sale for under $30!) I wore yesterday along with my new necklace you will absolutely hear me talk about for quite awhile!

When we got home, I turned on the TV to check out my girl, Miss Mix and Match Mama on QVC!!!  She (as always) was amazing and adorable and those red velvet brownies are drool-worthy! Did you watch?!

I can't wait to look through her new book Simmers!!  I'm all about some easy crockpot recipes so the new cookbook has me excited!

After I pulled myself away from QVC (I forgot how much stuff that channel makes me want to buy!!), I ran a few errands and then got to work prepping boards for this week!

I'm getting orders out as fast as I can, ladies!  Remember that you can use the Rush Fee listing if you need it really quickly!

(Check out the Etsy shop here)

I picked up these headphones while I was out running errands and the boys loved them.  They need them for school.

And for the record, they were not on their phones/ipads all day, I swear.  They played with their friends for quite awhile until 3 out of the 4 of them started crying within a 4-minute span (all different issues) and I thought maybe it was time to rest a little. ;)

And now it's our last Monday before school starts.  Next Monday morning, I'll drop the boys off for the start of their 4th and 2nd grade years and then head to breakfast with all my mama friends in downtown Mckinney.  I think I may be in denial that my oldest baby is going to be in 4th grade.  And my BABY BABY is going into 2nd.  Why can't they stay little forever????!!!  I sure do love those sweet boys.  And I sure do love that they really are sweet and I'm not just saying that because they are mine and because that's what us southern girls say a lot.  ;)

See you back here tomorrow for my yummy baked mac n cheese recipe!!!  You will love it and it's definitely something you'll want to pin for later!  Perfect side dish for those football tailgates or Thanksgiving!

Happy Monday, friends!!

Linking up with Johannah and Heather for Hello Monday!

  5. OMG so much to say about this post! I can relate to you on so many levels LOL! I loved that first funny quote, that was pretty much me everyday last week (school started today for my son) - summer was awesome but towards the end there was so much fighting I couldn't stand it. The rules for the Dude Party are AWESOME! Seriously that is the cutest thing ever, and if I lived in a house full of boys, I wouldn't mind it one bit either! What a fun getting to you know baseball party! And that necklace is soooooooo cute!!

  6. I can relate sooooo much to this post! Summer is awesome but we are READY for the organized chaos that is the school year in comparison to the unorganized laid back chaos that is summer. I love the Dude Party and all the rules...I laughed hard. Have a great week!
