Sutherland Springs

There are just no words for what happened yesterday in Sutherland Springs, TX.  I know we all feel so much anger and so much sadness over these senseless acts of violence that seem to occur every other week.  The fact that it is so common to turn on Breaking News and see this stuff all the time is just...exhausting.  Disheartening.  Evil.

Evil does exist.  And God never promised us bad things wouldn't happen.  But His grace abounds.  I know that when I'm in desperate need of comfort or peace about something that has me completely shaken, I can physically feel His presence.  The moment I ask for His comfort or for Him to be with me, I feel an overwhelming sense of calmness and peace.  It is physical.  My heartbeat slows, my mind calms and it can almost take my breath away because it is such an undeniable feeling.

I pray that all of those affected by this unspeakable tragedy are able to feel this comfort.  I know not everyone is a believer.  It takes immense faith to believe in something we cannot see.  And I won't lie and say I never have questions about why God allows certain things to happen.  We were given free will.  And unfortunately, that applies to evil people as well as the good.

  1. I want to say I can't even believe this, but like you said, it's becoming too much the norm for stuff like this to happen. I can't stand it, it's just so awful
