BIRTHDAY WEEKEND | 2018.

Happy Monday, friends!

Friday was my birthday so I spent the weekend celebrating in all my favorite ways!  Food, family, football and friends!  Thank you for all the sweet birthday wishes, by the way!!  Y'all are the best!!

Friday morning the kids headed to school, Craig left for the Mission Regan golf tournament and my parents showed up at my house around 10:30.  My parents live in Texarkana which is about 2.5 hours from Mckinney and now that they are both retired, they can come in whenever they want.  This makes me extremely happy because I have fantastic parents. :)

We decided to take advantage of our kid-free time and head to downtown Mckinney.  I've been dying to try out the newest restaurant down there called The Yard so that was our first stop.

This place has a very "Magnolia" vibe.  Turf grass, ping pong, cornhole, picnic benches, lots of shade and a modern rustic feel.  This is such a great addition to downtown!

We ordered the nachos as an appetizer and they were delicious!!  I could have eaten those as my meal.

Love my sweet daddy.  Now that he's retired, I think he's starting to age backward.

After we ate, we wandered back down to the square for some shopping.  But first, we stopped for a quick pic with the Mounted Patrol.  They are one of the coolest things about Downtown Mckinney and we LOVE them!

My dad is all into history so we dropped him off at the history museum and my mom and I checked out the shops.

We wandered into one store and y'all, I had the oddest experience with this little blue elephant.  I swear to you, it's like it called to me.  I can't even explain it.  I couldn't put it down or walk away from it!  It was the only one like it on the shelf and it was just meant to be mine.

Mason's "lovie" that he's had since he was a baby is also a little blue elephant so maybe that was part of the reason.  But I had a physical reaction to this stuffed animal.  My mom said she even felt it.  It is a story we'll tell for years,  I know, even though it was definitely one of those "You had to be there" moments. We were laughing so hard because of how ridiculous it was but we couldn't let it go.  My mom ended up buying me that $28 stuffed animal.  Happy 37th birthday to me.  Haha.

We shopped a little more until it was time to head back to get my dad and stopped for a quick pic with our new friend. ;)

We got home just in time to relax for an hour or so before the boys got home from school.  And oh how I wish I would have gotten Mason's reaction to seeing Nana in the driveway!  He threw his bike down and almost tackled her with a hug.  It was the cutest thing.

Matthew was much more cool about it.  #tweenager

Mason had Papa out in the culdesac for some wiffle ball pretty much immediately.

The other reason my parents were wanting to come in that night was because my old high school in Texarkana (Texas High) was playing the boys' future high school (Mckinney North) in our brand new fancy stadium.  This is the first year they have been in the same conference so it was neat that this game landed on my birthday.

We sat on the visitors side so we could cheer on Texas High and I'm so glad we did because I was able to get this gorgeous shot.  #nofilterneeded

The sun had just set behind the stadium when we got to our seats which meant we didn't have to deal with heat or the sun in our eyes.  It was perfect timing for sure.

There is nothing like watching your old high school band, drill team, cheerleaders and football players out there on that field to bring you right back to where you were 20 years ago.  I would totally do high school all over again.  It was so much fun!

#fridaynightlights #texasforever #cleareyesfullheartscantlose (Although we did, in fact, lose.)

Mason was basically only there for the food.  This kid can EAT.  And when he wasn't eating, he was doing this...

God bless him. My little weirdo.  He will always find ways to amuse himself.

At one point, we started looking for our neighbors who were sitting across the field.  One of them was in the student section and one was with her drill team.  Mason was spying. #hiLauren #hiTori

Texas High ended up getting beat by North after a tough battle but it was a great game and the perfect way to spend a Friday night.

My parents left on Saturday morning after Mason and Craig left for football practice.  Then after lunch, the boys had a birthday party to go to so I dropped them off for laser tag and headed out to do some shopping.  (Another mom was going to bring them home.  Thank you, Brandi!)

I decided I didn't have the energy for any major stores and all those Saturday crowds so I stopped into our new Marshalls to see if they had any cute holiday decor.  I ended up snagging two new pillows that I didn't think to take a picture of and a robe because it was the softest thing I've ever touched in my life.  It is that minky material they use to make baby blankets.  And it was $20.  Holy cow.  Sign me up.

I have been looking for it online so I could link it for y'all but it must be really old because I can't find it anywhere.  If you're local though, go check out the Marshalls in Mckinney on 380!  They had a couple of others too.  You can thank me once you feel this thing.

And to round out the birthday fun, last night after Mason's football game, I met up with Dani and Pam for dinner back in Downtown Mckinney.  And we actually ended up going back to The Yard!  They hadn't been before and I was totally up for it again because there were other things on the menu I wanted to try.  (The club sandwich is amazing.  Just sayin'.)

Dani had been telling me she found the perfect present and was so excited to give it to me.  I couldn't imagine what it could be but I was not disappointed.

Is this not the greatest thing ever!?!  Hahaha!  I love it!!

She knows my love for all those Housewives so well!  It was perfect!!  I'll text her today to see where she got it because I've already gotten messages on Instagram asking where to find it.

After dinner at The Yard, we snapped a quick pic, and then wandered over to Emporium Pies for a to-go slice of something sweet.  (I chose apple.)

It was the perfect ending to a perfect weekend.

Linking up for Hello Monday!

Is that a jelly cat stuffed animal? The same thing happened to me with the bunny and my husband bought it for me! Too funny!

I think you should totally have another baby. You are still young, you are a great mom.. My girls are grown but I had one of my favorites (kidding they are all my favorites) at 38. You will never regret it. That elephant needs a baby. So do you.
