FRIDAY FAVORITES #140. | BACK TO SCHOOL!

50 Truths You Can't Argue With - Funny Gallery

Whew!  Happy Friday!! This week has been so chaotic so I'm really looking forward to resetting and start fresh next week. We started the week with Matthew's baseball team playing Mason's baseball team for the first time ever, which was so much fun (minus the mini heat stroke Mason had about 10 minutes in...). Then it rained and rained and rained all day long on Tuesday which has cooled us off a little this week and made it super cozy and fall-like for a day or so. And then yesterday was the first day back to school in person after being virtual for the first 3 weeks and we were ALL so ready!! It has been a very long Spring Break. ;) Then we had another 8pm baseball game and didn't get home from that until 10 and the stress of trying to get everyone in the shower, remember to charge laptops for the next day, find last minute items we're going to need in the morning...ugh. We just haven't found a rhythm just yet but we will!

But moving on to the fun things from this week! Here are my favorites!

I watched a couple of movies this week. One was very random and new to me and one was a favorite.

The favorite? Beauty and the Beast.

Sigh.

I love this movie so much. Emma Watson is such a gorgeous Belle plus I'm a sucker for musicals. I love every song but choke up during most of them. (I'm so sensitive! haha) Not a new movie but if you still haven't seen this one, you totally should. I watched it on Hulu.

I watched this one yesterday while I was working on orders.

Now the random one was The Wave. I'm not even sure how I stumbled on to this one but it was on Amazon and I was in the mood for a disaster movie. The thing about this one though was that it was not in English so you've got to read subtitles. That is usually not my jam but I really wanted to see this wave!!

It's set among the fjords in Norway where the mountainside is unstable and collapses causing a giant tsunami with a wave that wipes out the town in 10 minutes. The crazy part about it is that this is based on a true story and apparently this could happen again at any minute in Norway. Scary!!

I'm not big of reading subtitles but this one wasn't hard. I didn't even realize I was reading them once the action started. It was worth a watch if you can't find anything else and want to see people survive a gigantic wave that comes crashing into their town. Especially if you've been to Norway! I always thought I wanted to go to Norway but now I'm not so sure. 😬

I talked about this book a little last week to say that I was currently listening to it but I finished it earlier this week and it was GOOD!!

Pretty Things - The Green Door - Book Store and Gift Shoppe - Overland Park

Nina and Lachlan are two con artists who are trying to scam Vanessa, a very successful Instagram Influencer/heiress, out of as much money as they can. What makes this mark different from their others is that Nina knows this particular girl and her family from when she was a teenager...its business and its personal. The catch? Vanessa has no idea who Nina is since Nina has changed her appearance so drastically since she was a teenager all those years ago.

Lachlan and Nina move into the guest house of Vanessa's grand Lake Tahoe home pretending to be lovebirds on sabbatical while they plot to steal the million dollars they believe is in the safe.

This book is twisty and twisted and I loved every minute of it. Even the ending wraps up nicely and I know I've said those exact words a million times before but it really is the mark of a great book in my opinion. I can't stand when authors leave things open-ended. This one is good though!!

I bought 4 new products in a Tarte sale from a week or two ago (plus one extra to get my free shipping!) and have been using all of them! Tarte is quickly becoming my go-to when it comes to makeup! I've been OBSESSED with the Shape Tape concealer for a couple of years now (along with all the other beauty bloggers, YouTubers, influencers, and every other woman in America) and I've slowly branched out to try their other products. One of my favorite things about this brand is that they offer so many travel-sized items which makes it easy to try things out before you go all in with a full-size product.

But with the sale that they were having, I was able to pick 4 products for $35 so I went for a few that I've been wanting to try out. I chose two new concealers so I could report back to you guys, plus the tinted moisturizer and the Glow Wand, which has been all the rage lately. And I needed one more small item to get me to free shipping so I grabbed this travel size bottle of the Squeezy Clean face wash because I love this almost as much as I love my Cleansing Balm.

I love both of the concealers but compared to my Shape Tape I think they are both a lot more hydrating. They are also more illuminating and "slicker". I'm not sure how to describe it. But there is definitely more illumination in these two as compared to the Shape Tape. I've been using the Hydrocealer Concealer the most this week because it seems to fall somewhere in the middle between the Shape Tape and the Creaseless. All of them are great!! My shade is Light Beige.

The tinted moisturizer is awesome too especially on the days when you need a touch of color but don't want to go all out with a full face of makeup.

The Glow Wand is the PERFECT way to highlight those cheekbones, the center of your nose, the corners of your eyes... I got mine in Aglow.

The Sale of the Week goes hand in hand with my Tarte products because...

Right now, you can take advantage of their Labor Day sale and buy 2 and get 1 free PLUS free shipping with the code FREE. See all the products available in this deal HERE.

Speaking of beauty products, I've been obsessed with my heated eyelash curler!! It's completely different than the regular eyelash curler. There is no clamp. You just push the button to heat it up and then sort of comb your lashes up like you're applying mascara. But make sure to apply the pressure and heat to the roots of your lashes so they'll turn up better. I love this thing so much and even had two people ask me if I had eyelash extensions this week.

This definitely takes a little longer to work than a basic eyelash curler but I love the pretty effect and the best part is that the curl lasts and lasts. Find it HERE

My sweet boys on the second "First" day of school this year! They look sleep. haha

And remember that rainy, cozy day I told you about from this week? Mason chose to do his zoom meetings in our sunroom on this day.

The day before, Mason had spilled "just a few drops" of milk on his brand school-issued Macbook. So while we were trying to dry that out, he had to zoom in from his phone. Charlie kept him company.

Pictures from the Monday night game were also a favorite!  Matthew in the blue...

And Mason in green!

Yesterday morning a small group of us Mckinney mamas got together for our annual back to school breakfast in downtown Mckinney and it was my one day of the week when I actually "got dressed". This is my life now. 😂 Once a week is all I can handle.

Anyway, I chose my new jeans, new white tee and new balloon sleeved kimono (from Amazon!) to ring in a new school year.

The color is perfect for fall (but it comes in other colors) and it's light and perfect to transition to fall.

You'll probably hear about these jeans from me for the next 6 months too. I seem to latch on to one or two pairs of jeans per season and wear them to DEATH. These are from the anniversary sale so they are still sold out in several sizes right now but I'm sure they'll restock soon. But they fit like a glove and hit at the perfect spot. (I'm 5'5".)

I'm loving my newest insulatead coffee mug designs for fall! These mugs come in a bunch of colors and you can get a name or monogram on these instead but I love these black and orange ones for fall!

I ordered a set number of the black mugs so if you want one, get your order in now!

I haven't started Yellowstone yet but I'm going to soon. Y'all convinced me. I'm definitely missing out apparently! This week, I've been watching old seasons of Real Housewives of New York though because I've had so many orders to get out and couldn't really concentrate like I would want to when watching a new show.

I also watched the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills reunion and I'm THIS CLOSE to dumping that franchise. They are all so pretentious with their glam squads and ridiculous (sometimes really ugly) designer clothing.

5 Brilliant 'Real Housewives' Insults And When To Use Them | Betches

Is it that hard to do your own hair and makeup? I can't imagine paying someone to go on vacation with me so that they can get me glam before every dinner with my girlfriends--even the private ones where they eat in the backyard or wherever. Every time I see them with their hair/makeup squad, my eyes just roll sooooooo far back in my head.  It's just so much "Look how rich/gorgeous/thin/etc I am! Aren't you jealous?!" and I just can't with people like that. Even if I had their money, I would never think to do that or wear some of the dumb stuff Dorit does. That girl treats every second of her time on camera like it's a fashion show starring herself as Top Model.

Learn to apply your own mascara, ladies! It's not hard. ;)

I also think they have learned to play to the cameras and play up the drama in order to keep their jobs. They continuously harp on the same issues every season (the whole dog thing last season and then Denise and Brandi this season) because they need DRAMA. And even if they really don't care all that much they will continue to bring it up and go at each other because they want that paycheck. It's just not authentic or genuine to me anymore. Give me the drunken ladies of NYC anytime. They may be a trainwreck but I feel like they are fairly authentic in all their messiness. 😂

And how perfect is this for all of us who get really really excited when September rolls around!?! It may be 85 (or 90++) but to us, it's fall.

Kind of.

Right? 😂

Happiest Friday and Labor Day weekend, friends!!

    1. You can buy the seasons on Amazon or stream it through Peacock (I'd never heard of this and had to google it) and Fubo, Sling and Direct TV have it too. I don't have any of these so I've got to figure out which one to use!
