Friday Favorites #14. {6.2.17}

IT'S HERE!!!  SWEET SUMMERTIME!!!

And all the teachers said hallelujah!

Oh.  And there's probably some of this going on too...

I love a good Friends meme.

(You can check out my Friends obsession here.  I take it to a whole other level.)

The last day of school is always bittersweet for us mamas, right?  We are happy that the stress of the school year is over but we are also so sad that our babies are growing up so fast!  I can't believe I now have a 4th and 2nd grader!  It is surreal when I think about it.

Here they are, riding off to their last day of school!

And here they are coming home!  I waited for them in the driveway and cheered them on as they rode up.  They may or may not have pretended not to know me.

Enough of that.

Today is our first Friday Favorites of the summer!

So let's get started!  Linking up with a few of my favorite Mckinney mamas-Erika, Narci D and Andrea!

FAVORITE #1

Tuesday night, I had plans to go to the Manda Strong Foundation event to watch one of Manda's favorite movies (Hitch) and we were also bringing gifts to donate to another young mom who is fighting her own battle with cancer.  Craig had just gotten back from 5 days in Arizona so I was definitely in need of some girl time!

Of course, we also found out that Matthew had a game that was rescheduled to the same night as well.  I figured it was no big deal to miss ONE game and Matthew seemed fine with it so I went to the event.

Sigh.

Within a few minutes of the movie starting, I got a text from Craig saying Matthew just hit a homerun.

Not just ANY homerun.  His FIRST HOMERUN EVER!!

He's watched his little brother hit numerous homeruns all season and has been quietly mentioning that he hopes he hits one too.  I could tell that it has been bothering him for awhile.

Craig said that when he crossed home plate he had the BIGGEST smile on his face.  I wish I could have seen it!  And of course, Craig didn't get it on video!  But he did snap this picture right after., with a mouth full of bubble gum.

As soon as I got home that night, I went to find him.  He was in the shower in my bathroom and when I came in the room I could hear him singing, "I am the champion!  I am the chaammmppiiooonn!"

He was GIDDY.  He also managed to snag his second game ball of the season.  I felt awful that I wasn't there to see his homerun but that's life.  I'll make sure not to miss the next one!

FAVORITE #2

I forgot about one of my favorite new soft tees!!  I found this at Target the other day and  HAD to have it!!  What 30-something girl wouldn't feel drawn to a Bayside Tigers shirt!?!

(Bee-buh-bee-buh-buh-buh-bee-bee, bee-buh-bee-buh buh buh bee GO BAYSIDE!  I can't get that out of my head now.)

You can find it here

I also picked up a few other super soft ones too.  Love this one!

And this one that I wore for a Memorial Day party.

 USA shirt here

They are all SO comfortable and you can't beat Target prices!

FAVORITE #3

I wasn't sure if I should include this in my list yet since I just started it but I couldn't NOT mention it.  It's so funny!!

Here's the summary:

There are good moms and bad moms—and then there are hot-mess moms. Introducing Ashley Keller, career girl turned stay-at-home mom who's trying to navigate the world of Pinterest-perfect, Facebook-fantastic and Instagram-impressive mommies but failing miserably.
When Ashley gets the opportunity to participate in the Motherhood Better boot camp run by the mommy-blog-empire maven she idolizes, she jumps at the chance to become the perfect mom she's always wanted to be. But will she fly high or flop?
With her razor-sharp wit and knack for finding the funny in everything, Bunmi Laditan creates a character as flawed and lovable as Bridget Jones or Becky Bloomwood while hilariously lambasting the societal pressures placed upon every new mother. At its heart, Ashley's story reminds moms that there's no way to be perfect, but many ways to be great.

I am only a few chapters in so writing a full review is impossible.  So far, I've just read that while she was pregnant, she had big plans to be THE BEST MOM EVER.

I remember thinking the same thing, girlfriend.

And then....the baby comes.

The house is always a mess.

You never sleep.  And when you do, it's with one eye open.

Dad never seems to hear the baby cry in the middle of the night.  Convenient.

The kitchen is always a disaster.  Bottles and bottle parts everywhere as well as all the breast pump pieces.  CLUTTER!

Make dinner?  Uhhh.  You're lucky if there is bread without mold in the pantry.  #enjoy

Leaving the house takes a full hour.  And the baby will ALWAYS poop at the most inconvenient time.

And you will probably have forgotten to pack diapers.  Or wipes.  Or both.

But you have 12 pacifiers that your baby refuses to take.

And while we are on the subject of dirty diapers, you can't forget the baby gas that sounds like a machine gun going off.  Especially when it happens in the middle of a prayer at church.

And to top it all off...

You're trying to lose that baby weight and for some reason, your almost 9-pound baby only took 6 pounds off the scale.  (Grrrr....)

Sidenote:  I remember being CLUELESS with Matthew as to what to expect after I delivered.  I even packed non-maternity clothes to wear home from the hospital like I was going to be able to just pop the baby out and then the next day be back in fairly normal clothes.  HA!  Thankfully, I also packed a maxi dress which saved me the humiliation.

I LOVE how real the book is and the author is hysterical.  I didn't realize I already follow her on Facebook!  Her name is Bunmi Laditan and you can find her FB page here

If you are a hot mess at times (or all the time), you will most likely love this book.  If you are a perfect mom, you'll get to see how the other half live.  ;)

I can't wait to keep reading this one!

(And for all of you new moms out there, you'll be an old pro by baby #2.)

Find it here.

My Etsy shop is the perfect place to do some shopping!!  (Not that I'm biased or anything.)  If you are a new reader, my shop is filled with TONS of fun drinkware options, wood signs, burlap prints, and decals.  Everyone needs a summer cup for the beach or the pool or even for just running errands during the day.  I have you covered ladies!

FAVORITE #5

I posted this on my Instagram the other day but I wanted to post it here too because how fun!!  My neighbors had this in their pool and I thought it was hysterical!  The boys loved it too.  Find it here!

And if you don't already, you can follow my personal Instagram here and my Etsy Instagram here

BONUS TIME!

For this week's #fashionfail, I had a little help from my mother-in-law!  She sent me a picture these thinking they might be perfect for a #justsayno product and she was so right!

Patterned pantyhose for men will never be ok.  At least not in my book!  I just keep trying to picture Craig putting on some "mantyhose" before church to dress up his look.  ;)

Have a great Friday, y'all!!  Thanks for stopping by!

  3. I am going to have to get that book. That sounds right up my alley. And I had no clue what to do or expect when my first was born either. I remember sitting in the car and crying on our way home from the hospital and asking my husband if "they knew what they just did by sending me home?" Hahaha! Seriously though, those nurses are the best. I hope you have a great weekend with your family!

  5. That Bayside t-shirt is perfect!! Gosh did I ever LOVE that show! Emma has seen a couple of episodes and she laughs hysterically at the clothes and hairstyles! But hey, that was the style back then =)

Doesn't it stink when us Moms miss big moments like a home-run?? Ugh. I really hate it. I am missing Emma's softball game tomorrow and it kills me to miss them.

That book sounds SO good! I am going to have to check it out!

All of your items in your shop are really cute =) I love the tall skinny tumblers, perfect for the pool!!

Don't you want to know how many people actually purchased those printed pantyhose! So weird!!!! LOL

    Have a great weekend!!
