Happy Wednesday, everyone! Today I have a fun post for you! Or, what I consider a fun post. I hope y'all will like it too. :)
So let's talk binge watching.
I am an addict. I'll admit it. I blame it mostly on my job. My job is a total enabler. Running an Etsy shop full-time means I am up in my little workroom painting, glittering and vinyl-ing away for 40+ hours a week. I love it (most of the time) but one of the best perks is that I can watch or listen to whatever I want every single day while I work.
In my yoga pants. (That I do not normally "yoga" in but I absolutely should. I'll work on that.)
I mean. Talk about perks of the job, right?!
Anyway, because of this, I go through a TON of shows on Netflix and Hulu. And it is one of our favorite topics of conversation between my girlfriends. "What are you watching right now?" "You HAVE to watch __________!" "What episode are you on?" "Have you got to the part where ________?"
These are pretty common questions that arise when we're chitchatting although you could just as easily trade out "watching" for "reading". We love both equally. :) And since we are girlfriends for a reason, we tend to like the same shows. So we all listen to each other when it comes to new recs.
Since I feel like I can legitimately contribute to this topic of binge-watching, I thought I'd share some of my own recommendations!
I tried to think of every show I've binge watched so I could make a list. I'm sure I'm missing some but here's what I remembered.
Gilmore Girls
Parks & Recreation
Fuller House
30 Rock
The Good Place
Glee
Scandal
Parenthood
Ozark
Hart of Dixie
The New Girl
One Day at a Time
Friday Night Lights
One Tree Hill
Real Housewives of (all of them)
The Mindy Project
The Goldbergs
Desperate Housewives
Step by Step
The Good Wife
Master of None
Big Little Lies
Samantha Who?
I'm going to also add in Friends but I was binge watching that before there was even a term for it. ;) (Read all about my weird Friends quirk here.)
And also Chicago Fire, which is an amazing show!! It's not on Netflix or Hulu but a couple of years ago, Craig took the boys to Louisiana for 5 days to visit his parents and I stayed home...with NOTHING to do. It was before I even had an Etsy shop so literally, I was completely free. (Oh my gosh, that sounds amazing...)
Long story short, I ended up watching 17 episodes of Chicago Fire One Demand in 2 days, y'all. TWO DAYS. Clearly, I had nothing else going on. And it was glorious. ;)
I still absolutely love that show!
I was going to put a little asterisk by the shows that were my favorite but my favorites ended up being about 95% of them!
Gilmore Girls...I mean, if you haven't binge-watched Gilmore Girls, just start there. It was my first real Netflix binge and it is just hard to beat. I love those girls!
Parks and Rec. If you want something light-hearted but hysterical, you need to watch this show!! Amy Poehler is one of my absolute favorites and the whole cast is just amazing. You'll watch one episode and feel like you want to be all of their friends. Plus, it is just one of those feel-good shows like Friends that helps you laugh and forget about the problems of the world.
Parenthood--if you haven't seen Parenthood before then I don't have much else to say but drop everything you are doing now and get started, girl!
Same with Friday Night Lights. #ohtimriggins
For a little throwback, try One Tree Hill! It is drama after drama but it will suck you in and not let you go. And there are so many episodes!! I was so sad when I finally finished this series but was happy to see how they ended it.
And this is so me! I had to add this in.
First of all, that picture is hilarious. I can't even begin to imagine what this guy was thinking! But second, yes, that's so me thinking I can watch a 50 minute episode by 11pm...when it's already 10:23...
Next up on things to watch are these:
On Hulu there are some awesome 90s sitcoms like:
Family Matters
Hangin' with Mr. Cooper
Dinosaurs
Home Improvement
I also have marked down to re-watch...
Eli Stone
Medium
Ugly Betty
Brothers and Sisters
Ghost Whisperer
Numbers
And for the record, I'm not ALWAYS binge-watching something. A lot of times I'm listening to books on Audible. (Check out my book reviews here and here!) I'm just as much a book lover as I am a binge-watcher. :)
So what else do you think I should watch?! Let me know your favorites in the comments!!
(And don't forget about my new linkup!! November 1st, link up with your very own confession!!)
Have a great day, friends!
Brothers and Sisters used to be one of my favorites! I completely forgot about that one!
ReplyDeleteI was so sad when it got canceled!!
DeleteGossip Girl was one of my favorites!! If you haven't checked it out, you definitely should :) It's a guilty pleasure!

I watched it when it was on the air and started to binge watch it last year but never finished! I may need to go back and try again. ;)
DeleteYou and Meagan are always the gurus of binge watching! I need to watch some of these you have listed!!
ReplyDeleteI think you should try out Parks and Rec! It just makes me happy!
DeleteYou are the binge watching queen! Love that about you, friend!
ReplyDeleteWe all have our strengths! ;)
DeleteWhat a fun post! Some of the shows I have binge watched are The West Wing, Revenge, and I actually watched 13 Reasons Why last year. Controversial but so interesting. I am about to watch Big Little Lies because I finished the book and loved it!
ReplyDeleteI just finished Big Little Lies! I forgot to put that one in but I just went back and updated my list! It was so good! I haven't seen the others but I'll be sure to check them out!
DeleteCheck out Master of None and Atypical, both on Netflix
ReplyDeleteForgot about Master of None! Just updated the list. I watched the 1st season a long time ago! It was so funny. I'll have to go watch the second season now!
DeleteI agree that I binged watched FRIENDS long before that was a term. I also have binged watch Gilmore Girls and Everybody Loves Raymond many times. I'm currently making my way through the 90s shows on Hulu. Full House, Step by Step, Home Improvement, and Family Matters. Excited for your new linkup.
ReplyDeleteYes, all the 90s sitcoms were the best!!! I just finished Step by Step and I think it was better than I remembered because I got so many more of the jokes now that I missed as a kid. ;)
DeleteI just started watching "Girlfriend's Guide to Divorce" on Netflix. It's good! Funny, inappropriate at times and addicting.
ReplyDeleteMy girlfriends and I were just talking about that one the other day! I've seen episodes here and there but haven't started from the beginning. I think I should add it to my list!
DeleteGilmore Girls and Hart Of Dixie are my favorites so far. I loved how light hearted they were. I guess I need to give Parenthood another chance. I only made it through the first episode and it was stressing me out... but everyone keeps saying it was good. :)
ReplyDeleteYou should definitely give Parenthood another chance! Once you get invested into the story, you'll never want to leave them! haha And the series finale was done SO well!!
DeleteSome others on Netflix that I binge watch are Grey's Anatomy, Reign and Heartland. Sooo good! And I can never get enough of King of Queens, though I don't think it is on Netflix or Hulu.
ReplyDeleteYes! I love King of Queens! I usually watch at least one episode a night on TV. Do you watch Kevin Can Wait? I love that I can see them back together in a new show!
DeleteThe Office! If you liked Parks & Rec you will like The Office :)
ReplyDeleteI loved Downton Abbey! Great story line and so different from anything else out there!
ReplyDeleteI love your love for Friends! I'm rewatching Grey's Anatomy right now with my boyfriend but there are so many good shows on this list I need to watch, too!
ReplyDeleteHow did you like Ozark? My husband and I were just looking at that one the other day to start watching!
ReplyDeleteIt was sooooo good!!! Definitely make sure any kids are in bed before you turn it on though! It is intense but I loved it! I can't wait for the next season!
DeleteOh Gilmore Girls... why do you have to be SO good?!
ReplyDeleteI have been addicted to watching new shows that pop up on Netflix as fast as I can and end up staying up all night just to see what happens! Manhunt was AMAZING.
Oh my, I totally forgot about brothers & sisters. Definitely one of my favourite shows and I was so upset when they cancelled it!
ReplyDeleteI also started late on both these series, but binge watched em thanks to Netflix; New Girl and Jane the Virgin!!
And of course Friends, pretty sure through my University/Post Grad career I re-watched the series mutual times haha!
