STEPPING UP MY SKINCARE GAME

Ok, girls.  You've seen me post about it frequently.  You've even HEARD me talk about it (while overcoming my fear of Instagram speaking) last week. But today I'm dedicating the entire blog post to what I'm affectionately calling my new Big Girl Skincare Routine.

A few weeks, ago I posted a little about my skincare routine and what I was using at the time.  (It was in my All-Stars of 2019 Favorites post HERE if you want to check it out.)  I did tell you that my routine changes frequently because I feel like I'm just always on the hunt for new and better products...while holding on tight to favorites...but I'm also a little hesitant about spending a small fortune on this stuff.

HOWEVER.

I'm 38 years old now.  My skin is aging much quicker thank I'd like (especially my eyes and neck--thank you tanning beds from 2001) and I just decided its time to invest in my skin a little more.  I went into this knowing that there isn't a cream or serum on this planet that will take 10 years off my face in 3 months or 6 months or even a year.  We are all continually aging so really, we just want to soften the effects and maybe slow them down. And there are LEGIT products out there that will do that.

Which brings me too...

Colleen Rothschild.  I guess all my gushing about their products lately caught their attention because they asked if I'd be interested in partnering with them to share my new routine!

Why yes, Colleen.  Yes, I would. #thankyouforasking

So here's the deal.

I've been a fan of Colleen Rothschild skincare since I ordered the Discovery Kit in October 2018, after hearing another blogger (ok a bunch of bloggers) rave about this company and their products.  The Discovery Kit is the absolute BEST way in, in my opinion, to start out if you can't decide what you want to try.  It comes with a ton of goodies in small sizes so that you can try them out, see what you like, what you don't like, what you LOVE and HAVE TO HAVE. (Cleansing Balm, I'm looking at you, kid.)

And right now, they are having a SITEWIDE 25% OFF SALE with the code 6YEARS!! I always wait for a sale and this is their 6 Year Anniversary Sale so you know it's a good one!!  Free shipping starts at $49 too.  Take advantage of this if you've been wanting to try it out.  Seriously.  Now is the time if you too want to take your skincare a little more seriously in 2020.
Discovery Collection / $150 Value
The Discovery Kit is always a GREAT deal but with the sale, it is even better.  The kit is a $150 value but they sell it for $95.  When you take your 25% off of that, you can snap this up for $71.25 and try 6 products, plus you get the bag and the muslin cloth to use with your cleansing balm.

Here's what is included in this kit:

Extreme Recovery Cream (outstanding night time moisturizer)
Radiant Cleansing Balm (keep reading to hear about my love for this)
Dual Enzyme Polish (this will leave your skin BABY SOFT-cross my heart)
Clarifying Detox Mask (home spa day anyone?  Here ya go!)
Face Oil #9 (This was my first face oil and I fell in love!  That's why I chose a Retinol Oil for my nighttime routine!)
Sheer Recovery Cream (your go-to moisturizer)
Cute CR Leather Travel Bag

The kit is how I was first introduced to this line.  I fell in love with the Cleansing Balm immediately.  (I also loved every other product in that kit but the CB is just so unique!)  I'm talking, as soon as I opened the jar and touched it and felt it melt against my skin...yep. I knew this was going to be a game-changer.  And I have been using it religiously ever since. There have been times when I've run out and waited a couple of weeks to order more (usually waiting on a sale!) and reverted back to something I used before. And that's when I really start to miss this stuff.  But the second my new supply of Cleansing Balm comes in, it's like I can hear the angels singing.  🎶 I just can't tell you how glad I am that this product exists.

The kit comes with a mini size but this, my friends, is my JUMBO size.

It usually lasts me about 6 months.  (I bought one in July and didn't run out until December.)  I use this morning and night without fail.  It has noticeably made my skin much more even which makes my skin look much more radiant.  Which is why they call it Radiant Cleansing Balm, I guess. ;)

I don't see it on the site right now though so I'm wondering if it sold out in this size.  Have no fear though, because it's still available in the regular and the mini.

Look how luxurious...

To use this, I scoop up a little on three fingers, rub my fingertips together to warm it up a bit and then rub it into my dry face.  (Don't wet your face first!)  It'll melt away your makeup and literally dissolve all that grease, oil and grime from your day.  I replaced all my washcloths with these microfiber washcloths a long time ago because-friends-if you aren't using a microfiber washcloth for your face then you're doing it wrong missing out. 😉  I run it under some warm/hot water, wring it out, and then gently wipe the balm off my face.  The microfiber cloths do this soooo much better than a regular washcloth.

Since I fell so hard and fast for the Cleansing Balm, I started to look more into this company when I decided to upgrade my entire skincare routine.  I knew I wanted to use one brand of products for the majority of my skincare needs so that I knew all the products were made to work together.  And I wanted someone I could trust and had had success with in the past.  So a couple of months ago, I added the Retinol Supreme Eye Serum to my Jumbo Radiant Cleansing Balm order to see what I thought.

Ummmm, this stuff is so good.  I use one little pump at night (enough for both eyes) and it goes on so silky and smooth and then gradually sinks into your skin.  It's got Vitamin C and Retinol plus some other ingredients I can't pronounce...or spell...that help improve the delicate skin around your eyes.  The reviews are fantastic too.

Anyway, after deciding that I'm now a fan of the Eye Serum as well as the Cleansing Balm my choice was made.  I was going all-in with Colleen Rothschild.

MY SKIN TYPE

I chose products based on what I thought I needed most at the moment and what I was currently out of.  I do have a few things I'll still incorporate (like a Vitamin C serum) that aren't CR until I run out.  And then I'm switching over to her for those things.

My skin is definitely of the combination type.  I can get dry around my chin and nose in the winter but the rest of my skin is normal/oily.  I have really bad melasma on my forehead that has been fading over the past few months with some consistent prescription creams (that I just found out recently could harm my liver...) but honestly, the second it gets hot outside it blazes back to life.  I should probably get it treated at the dermatologist but I don't want to spend thousands or watch my skin peel off my face for a couple of weeks.  So I just haven't done that yet.

I have very "weathered" under-eye skin for sure.  Lots of fine lines and crepey-ness that just comes with age.  But I still hate it.  And the rest of my skin is pretty decent.  The Cleansing Balm has helped even out my skin tone and I get FAR FAR FAR less breakouts than I did before.  But I'd love to improve the texture and elasticity of my skin as well as help prevent any new fine lines and wrinkles from forming.  Or at the very least...slow them down!

And one thing I've learned about aging skin is that HYDRATION is key!! The dryer my skin, the worse it looks.  I'd much rather have my skin dewy and plump than matte and thirsty.  So I knew I needed a good everyday moisturizer (I had just run out of the stuff I was using) and I wanted something creamy, thick and rich to soak my skin in at night.

So here's what I went with.

MY MORNING ROUTINE:

Here are the CR products I use in the morning.

(I'll be adding in her Vitamin C treatment next month once I run out of what I'm currently using.)

The Age Renewal Super Serum is a best seller and has amazing reviews.  It helps fight a variety of aging skin problems.  Elasticity, fine lines, texture, tone...all the stuff that I needed help with.

And I tried the Sheer Renewal Cream a long time ago when it came in my Discovery Kit.  I add a little over my face and neck after the Super Serum and it gives my skin a great base for my makeup.  If you need a good every day, anti-aging moisturizer, this is it!  I stopped using it for a while in order to try other things but this seems to the best one to wear under my makeup.  It's not greasy and sticky.

MY NIGHTTIME ROUTINE:

So here's my nighttime routine.

*Glycolic Acid Peel Pads (once every 2-3 days)

The first thing I do is wet my fingertips and run them over my mascara so that it smears itself all over my face.  Yes, I know.  It's a mess but I do this so I don't have to overly rub my eyes in order to get dried mascara off my lashes.  It makes it so much easier to do this.  Once I've got it smeared everywhere, I just use a basic eye makeup remover and cotton pad and wipe it off.  Super easy and takes just a few seconds.  I don't want to rub my any more than I have to.

When the mascara is off, I dry my face with my washcloth and then dip into the Cleansing Balm.  I let it melt into my fingers for a couple of seconds and then give my face a good rub.  I always feel like I'm getting a facial when I do this.

Once it's rubbed in really well, I let it sit for 10-15 more seconds while I wet my washcloth with warm/hot water and then wipe it all away.  My skin always feels so fresh, clean and hydrated.  I'm never left with super tight skin like some of the cleansers I used to use in the past.

Next up, the Age Renewal Super Serum.  This stuff feels amazing going on.  I use one pump for my face and another for my neck.

#seriousface 😂

Then comes the Extreme Recovery Cream and oh my word, this stuff is the Holy Grail of nighttime anti-aging moisturizers.  It's thick, creamy and I feel like your finger almost bounces when it touches it.  You don't need much at all to cover your entire face and neck.

Then I follow that with a pump of the Retinol Supreme Night Oil (because #yesssss for retinol!) and then dab the Retinol Supreme Eye Serum around my eyes.  Ahhhhh.  Feels like a spa treatment every.single.time.

I do want to add that you absolutely do not need to use all of this to get results.  Get one or two products to start with if going all-in right now isn't in your budget.  Or if you're out of your nighttime moisturizer, maybe try the Extreme Recovery Cream this time instead of your usual go-to.  But if you ARE ready to add in some new products (or restock your current CR faves!) take advantage of the sale!!

Now, these new Glycolic Acid Peel Pads are new to the website so I wanted to go over them really quick because these are fantastic!  I used to use something similar to this years ago and they made my skin GLOW.  Not sure why I quit using them but once I saw these I knew I had to have them!

These Glycolic Acid Peel Pads are going to strip away any leftover dirt or whatever may be left behind after cleansing.  It also helps with hyperpigmentation (bingo!), brightens up your skin (this is what I noticed quickly!) and targets fine lines...among other things.  This is not a science class so I'll leave details for you to go check out if you're interested. ;)

Since these are new, Colleen Rothschild is doing an introductory bundle offer that is fabulous!!  You can get the Peel Pads + a mini Extreme Recovery Cream (use it after the pads) + a mini Face Oil (use on top of the cream).  All of that is currently on sale for $79 but this is not included in the 25% off sale, which is a bummer.  However, there is also a listing for JUST the peel pads and the 25% off code DOES work for those.

Glycolic Acid Peel Pads Introductory Offer

Whew.  I feel like that was a LOT.  You still with me???

If you are, I just wanted to tell you that I've looked into this company several times over the years and they are just WITH IT.  All of their products get glowing reviews for their quality and their ability to do what they claim.  And really, that's what we're looking for, right?!  Plus, they continue to come out with new products that never disappoint and seem to be exactly what I didn't even realize I was looking for!  😂 (Glycolic Acid Peel Pads and the Retinol Night Oil are both new so those come to mind!)

Plus, the packaging on all of these products is so beautiful.  So do I recommend this product line?  Absolutely. Do I also recommend getting your goodies while they are on sale for 25% off????  Even more so!

I want to thank Colleen Rothschild for partnering with me to share some of my favorite products and for sponsoring this post!  #yourock

  2. I'm using the cleansing balm and the retinol eye serum. I am liking both. I have rosacea so I use a derm prescribed cream morning and night; these products blend so well with this and haven't caused me any adverse action.

  5. Your skin looks great and has me wanting to try some products. I decided to start with the Peel pads "package" that includes the pads, the Recovery Cream and a mini Face Oil for $79. However, it is not giving me the extra 25% off at check-out when I enter the code. Is there a different code to use instead of 6 YEARS?

    1. I just went and checked it for you too and it's not working for me either. I wonder if it's because it's a special introductory offer so it's not valid? The website says sitewide so I just assumed! I'll go back and correct that in my post. It does work for just the Peel Pads though. (Takes about $18 off the $75 price.) Not the bundle one. So sorry! What a bummer.
