UPDATED SKINCARE ROUTINE & REVIEW WITH COLLEEN ROTHSCHILD

Oh happy day, friends!! I told you girls several weeks ago that I was in the process of trying out a bunch of new (to me) products from my beloved Colleen Rothschild skincare line and would be reporting back with a full review along with any updates this may bring to my skincare routine and today is the day!

You may remember the Skincare Routine post I did back in January. This was around the time when I decided to go all-in and commit to a better skincare regimen once and for all.  I am not getting any younger and I needed a product line that I could count on to bring actual results.  So when the sweet people at Colleen Rothschild noticed that I was a fan, they reached out to me to see if I'd be interested in partnering with them to share some of my faves which is what brought about that first post and got me on track with a "big girl" skincare routine.

And now they've reached out again (they must really feel my fangirl-ness) and I'll just never say no to them!  It would be like Phoebe Buffay turning down an opportunity to meet Sting.  I mean, we all know she would NEVER. ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‚ #Rossssscannnnnn๐ŸŽถ
(If you don't get this reference, I can't help you. hahaha)

Ok, I'm getting off track already so let's get back to it.

I said this in the previous skincare post though but I'll say it again.  I'm not looking for something that will make me look 10 years younger in a matter of weeks.  I mean...if that's out there somewhere please let me know, of course (!!!)...but it's not realistic, ladies.  We need quality products with scientifically-proven ingredients that will soften our fine lines, slow the development of new ones, hydrate, brighten, and even out our skin tone, promote collagen production, reduce the size of our pores...these are the things we need and these are things CR products can do.

Since the last post in January, I've been adding in new products to use alongside the ones I was already using so I wanted to share those today because their Spring Renewal Sale is happening now which means when you buy 2 or more products from their masks and exfoliators collection, you can save 20% with the code RENEW20.  I do love a sale.

Since several of the new products I've added fall into this category, I wanted to make sure I shared while you can take advantage!

Here's a quick rundown on my original A.M. routine:

Now the Radiant Cleansing Balm is by far my #1 favorite of all-time, of all skincare products, ever.  EVER.  If you ask me where you should start with CR products, I'm going to direct you first, to the Discovery Kit which gives you a bunch of amazing products in the mini size for you to try out which includes the Cleansing Balm.  But if it's sold out (which it is as I type this but is expected to be back in stock any day now) then just go straight to the Cleansing Balm and snatch it up.

I just opened up a new (Jumbo) jar of Cleansing Balm because I had just scraped the last of the remains out of my previous one and running your fingers over the top of this stuff and watching it melt into your skin is insanely satisfying.

Now you MUST use this balm with a dry face.  Oil and water don't mix so make sure your face is nice and dry first.  If it does get a little wet it's fine but it won't rub in as smoothly and it turns white and won't melt into your skin like it should.  So make sure you are dry!

Then get a little scoop onto your fingers and massage it into your face to melt away all that makeup, dirt and oil.  You can even use it on your eyes to get off your eye makeup too!  It is so gentle and doesn't burn your eyes at all.  I use a warm, wet microfiber washcloth to wipe it all off when I'm done and it always leaves my face so clean and fresh without feeling dry and stiff.

I started my love affair with Colleen Rothschild products in October 2018 when I got the Discovery Kit and tried out this balm.  And I knew this would be in my beauty arsenal forever.  Honestly, I just loved the way it felt on my skin.  I didn't expect it to do much more than get my skin clean but I noticed within a week that my skin started clearing up (I used to have small breakouts once a month mostly on my forehead) and my skin TONE was so much more even and brighter!  I went back to the website to see if it could be from the balm and it basically said, "Yes, stupid, that's why it's called RADIANT Cleansing Balm.".  ๐Ÿ˜‚ #ohyeah #duh

So there's my ad for the Cleansing Balm once again.  I've raved about it enough over the past couple of years for you to get that I highly recommend it, right? Haha.

So back to what's new.

I've now added in the Vitamin C Treatment Complex to my morning routine and I just mix it in with either my Super Serum or Sheer Renewal Cream after I wash my face with the balm. I'm down to the final few drops of my Super Serum though and need to get more ASAP!  That stuff is a Best Seller and is just one big dose of anti-aging goodness.

But the Vitamin C Treatment is a MUST-HAVE for anyone's morning routine.  You've probably seen Vitamin C serums all over the place and in every skincare brand out there because they are so dang good for your skin!  They help defend your skin against pollution and sun damage on a daily basis and they also help with hyperpigmentation which is a big problem when it comes to my skin. I love that this is a lotion and not a serum like most others are.  It helps my makeup go on so much smoother and doesn't leave my skin feeling sticky and greasy which was always my #1 complaint with other Vitamin C serums I've used in the past.

And I finally started using a toner again!  Why did I ever stop?!  I ADORE this stuff.  No matter what cleanser you use, there will always be tiny bits of makeup or oil that gets left behind but this gets it ALL off with just a few swipes.  It leaves your skin perfectly prepped for your products and/or makeup.

As for my original P.M. routine, it was a little more involved...

*Glycolic Acid Peel Pads (once every 2-3 days)

I would cleanse with my cleansing balm, use the glycolic peel pads (every few days), apply my Super Serum, let it dry for a minute and then mix in a pump or two of the Retinol Oil with my Extreme Recovery Cream.  Then follow it all with my Retinol Supreme Eye Serum.

I heard someone say the other day that the goal should be to go to bed looking like a glazed donut. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ #nailedit

Since I was almost out of the Super Serum and it was out of stock when I went to replace it, I decided to try the Mandelic Acid Radiance Serum instead.  And it has been pretty fabulous.  It wasn't super runny like the oils are but it wasn't thick and creamy like the Super Serum.  This is more like a gel serum which I love.  This is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) and it will breakdown dead skin cells and help unclog pores and remove blackheads, promote a more even (and brighter!) skin tone and texture, and of course, helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Also new to my PM routine is the Retinol Treatment Complex

Now I know that I already have the Retinol Supreme Night Oil and you don't need both.  But I wanted to try the Retinol Treatment Complex this time around for two reasons.

1.  The Oil mixes in beautifully with the Extreme Recovery Cream and most definitely leaves you feeling like a glazed donut when you hit the sack.  (In a good way!  Like you just left the spa...a very delicious spa.)  BUT, it can be messy! It's an oil so it's very runny and sometimes I just don't like dealing with the mess of an oil.  Although it feels AMAZING once it's on and I can literally feel my face warm up after a few minutes because of the retinol.  I love that I can feel it working so it is worth it.  But again...messy.

2.  Now that it's getting warmer, I want to switch to something a little lighter on my skin since it won't need quite as much help in the hydration department. And the Retinol Treatment Complex is a lotion consistency that will work better as a summertime option.

So yes...I'm loving the Retinol Treatment Complex.  It's not messy and is lighter than the oil.  But y'all...EVERYONE needs to be using a retinol product if they are over the age of 25.  I mean, in my opinion. ;) I'm no expert but seriously, why wasn't I doing all of this YEARS ago?!  You hear about retinol all the time because it is at the top of the skincare pyramid.  It WORKS.  And the Retinol Treatment Complex was specifically designed to help with anti-aging AND help to clear blemishes and breakouts!

So if you're trying to decide between the Retinol Oil or the Retinol Treatment Complex, my vote---going into summer--is the Treatment Complex.  But if you need added hydration no matter what, go with the Oil!

Now my updated PM routine looks like this:

Do I use all of these together every single night?  No. If I use the Peel Pads, for instance, I'll skip the Mandelic Acid or if I use the Mandelic Acid and my skin is feeling dry, I'll skip the retinol.  I do want to note that not once has my skin ever become flakey or started to peel like other products have done in the past.  I think this is because 1) my skin is used to retinol by now and 2) CR products are designed to help combat that sort of thing. The Extreme Recovery Cream is also the greatest moisturizer and I feel like it locks everything in place and gives you an amazing hydration barrier while you sleep.  It's also super hydrating on your neck and my neck is in need of all sorts of help.

And finally, who doesn't love a face mask, right?!  I knew I needed a new one the other day after I was digging through my drawers looking for one and all I could find were crusty old ones and sample packets!  I remembered loving the Clarifying Detox Mask that came in my Discovery Kit so I decided to get a full-size one of those.

Look at all that goodness!  I love charcoal masks so this is no exception.  I also use this as a spot treatment for blemishes.  I just dab a tiny bit on before bed and rinse it off in the morning and the blemish is smaller and less irritated than it was the night before.  Not the sexiest look, I'll admit, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

This mask is part of the buy 2, get 20% off sale right now along with the Mandelic Acid, the Glycolic Peel Pads, both the retinols I talked about and everything else you'll find HERE.

So those are my new product recs if you are looking to add more CR goodies to your regimen. But did you know they also have body washes and lotions as well?

I have been trying out their Creamy Oil Body Wash, the Body Scrub and the Body Butter in the Tahitian Monoi scent (also available in Honey Vanilla) and I definitely smell like I should be sipping a pina colada on an island somewhere!

So I LOVE the body wash and the body scrub.  The body scrub has thicker....scrubbers??...than the fine sand-like texture you have in face exfoliators.  And I love this.  A little goes a long way and it leaves your skin feeling so smooth.

The creamy oil body wash is exactly how it sounds.  It comes out like a creamy lotion but then hydrates your skin only the way an oil can.  Plus it smells amazing in the shower and leaves a light trace of it once you're out.

Now the Body Butter is the only thing I didn't love and I hate even saying that because I actually do love the body butter itself...I just didn't like the smell.  The smell is very strong in the Body Butter and since it goes on like a body moisturizer, it can be overpowering.  I've heard great things about the Honey Vanilla scent so maybe it would be different had I gone with that instead but this one was just too strong for me.  However, it did make my skin (especially the backs of my hands) look instantly younger, smoother and softer and the texture of this stuff is fantastic.
