Friday Favorites #18! {7.7.17}

Happy Friday!!  I hope you all had a great week! This week was a little chaotic because of a Tuesday holiday (I shared our 4th fun here), Craig coming home after being gone for a full week, dealing with major swimmer's ear and then sending my Matthew to camp for the first time yesterday!

Y'all.  My mama heart is in full-on worry mode. I worried about the drive there (2 hours on school buses, through Dallas traffic with no seat belts....ugh! They did arrive safely though so I don't have to worry about that again until Monday.)  Now I'm worrying about what he'll eat for 5 days (pickiest eater EVER), will he lose his shoes, (he's always losing his shoes!), what if he doesn't make any friends, and then the standard "What if he gets hurt/homesick/doesn't brush his teeth/take a shower/change his underwear...".

I know he's going to have THE ABSOLUTE BEST TIME.  That may be the one thing I'm NOT worried about.  ;)  But leaving your baby in the care of strangers (for the most part) for 5 days is so hard and feels unnatural!  All I can do is pray that he's fine and if he does need help with anything, that the right person will be there to offer comfort, a laugh, or be able to locate his shoes for him.

(Back at it with my favorite earrings!  Find them here.)

Matthew and Mason have only been apart for maybe 1 or 2 nights their entire lives.  It will be interesting to see how Mason does without his Big Brother!  He's already bored.

Time to move on to the Favorites though.

My first FAVORITE spot is going to a book I just finished.  Some of you may be familiar with Kristin Higgins but I had never heard of her!  I stumbled upon some of her books when I was searching Audible for something new.

The book I chose is called If You Only Knew and I knew I would LOVE this book before I even got through the first chapter.  It hooked me from the beginning with its characters and their storylines.  The whole book was just charming, witty, endearing and you just found yourself rooting for the two main characters, but screaming at them at times as well.

In a nutshell, the book is about 2 sisters.  Every book I've read lately is about sisters.  Anyway, one sister is recently divorced but has somehow found herself best friends with not only her ex but also his new (and seemingly perfect) wife.  She moves to a small town where she finds herself falling for her landlord who has a complicated past of his own.

The other sister is living the life she always wanted.  Married to a man she's completely in love with and staying home to raise their 3-year-old triplet daughters  She's realizing stay-at-home-mamahood is HARD as well as so rewarding.  But then she discovers an incredibly racy picture that has been sent to her husband's phone and everything starts to spiral out of control.

I feel like I should add here that I wanted to reach through the book and beat the mess out of this guy several times.  You will hate him and even get super irritated with her.  But in a way that will make you want to keep reading, I promise.

I thought the ending wrapped up nicely and I was sad that it was over.

I love love LOVED this book and as soon as I finished it, I downloaded the one she wrote right after it called On Second Thought.  It's not a sequel and so far I'm only in Chapter 2 but I'm already hooked.

So glad I found a new author that I LOVE and has a ton of books for me to make my way through!  If you are a Kristin Higgins fan, let me know your favorite book!  And if you aren't (yet!), you should try one of these out!

Our beach trip is on my mind now that I've finally got it booked!  So lately I've been thinking non-stop about beach clothes and beach toys!  Last night, I obsessed over new beach cover-ups for an hour online but didn't buy anything.  #soindecisive

Here were some of my favorites.

Black with tassels here (also comes in white!)

I really love this one too.  The pattern is so pretty and I love the colors.

My go-to coverups have always been little dresses like this one.  I love this one in pink but it's on sale if you get it in black!

The one I really wanted sold out in my size before I had a chance to snag it though.  And it was on sale for under $30.  The still have them in medium and large!

How comfy does that look?!

Last weekend I decided to give my pantry a little makeover.  I had been on Pinterest and got sucked in to all these pins about how to organize your pantry and fridge.  I'm planning on doing a whole post about this next week but here's a little sneak peek.  So happy with how it turned out but the pictures are terrible!  We don't have much natural light that shines into the pantry so the pictures aren't the best.

If you haven't tried the Texas Toast croutons in the Ceasar flavor, you are missing out.  #justsayin

I don't even remember if I took a before picture or not but it was a hot mess, y'all.  I added the colorful contact paper to hide the dingy and stained white shelves, found the glass containers on Amazon and the white bins at Walmart.  I added the decals myself.  I love that opening my pantry door doesn't raise my blood pressure anymore.  ;)

Here's a quick rundown on where things are from: (Click the words/links to take you to the exact item)

White plastic bins:  Walmart (I can't seem to find the exact ones but they were in the kitchen organization aisle for around $5)  Similar here on Amazon
Lazy Susans:  Ikea
Decals:  My Etsy Shop :)

Speaking of my Etsy shop, the Christmas in July sale is still going on!  Take advantage of 15% off all Christmas signs right now and have them ready to put up the second that last slice of turkey has been eaten on Thanksgiving!  (Or sooner, if you are anything like me.)

I've also got a ton of cute drinkware!  I love this hot pink and lime green combo that Real Fit Mama wanted on her cup!  Perfect for summer!

Find these here. (Shown with neon green glitter vinyl)

And this one was adorable!  Love the colors she chose! Find them here.

And that brings me to what I debated on even posting today.  But I'm going to do it anyway because I think most of you will find it as ridiculous as I did.

So this was NOT my favorite.

I got this message from someone yesterday morning and it gave me a good eye roll.  Ummm...exactly who are you and why should I send you free stuff?  Maybe a nice introduction first?

Trust me, I wanted to respond a lot more than "No".  But I knew I should just say no and let it go. Did she really just expect me to be like "Sure!!  What's your address?!".  Not to mention that I have 88 other open orders right now that people actually paid for and are expecting to ship within the next two weeks.

Look, I know it never hurts to ask and all but do it with some class.  (Maybe even tell me your name.)  I also just found out that this person has been making the rounds on Etsy asking this so it's not just my shop she really liked.  ;)  If you are ever curious about an Etsy seller possibly donating an item to a worthy cause or being a part of a giveaway that's one thing.  But doing something like this, is not.

Y'all.

And you should also say no to these bad boys, since we're on the subject.

The #fashionfail of the week belongs to these and I CAN'T.STOP.LAUGHING.

What in the WORLD.

Inside out Mom Jeans.  For $975.

The description says:

Made in Italy, Ben Taverniti Unravel Project's blue cotton denim inside-out crop jeans are distressed with rip details at the knee. The style is finished with "To create something new you must first destroy" lettering at the right inside-out pocket.

Dear Lord, help us all.

That's it for me today!  I hope you all have a great weekend!!

Linking up with my girls Andrea, Narci and Erika for Friday Favorites today!

  6. Oh sweet Matthew! Praying for him and you!! Your pantry looks amazing! That Etsy message! HA I have had a few people contact me for donations but I did have a good "feeling" about it so I didn't even respond. OOPS!

    1. Thanks!! And yes, that message. Ugh. I wasn't sure if I should post it or not but it was too eye-roll inducing not to. ;) And apparently she's been sending the exact same message to tons of other places on Etsy. I've donated several times to legit causes that messaged me through Etsy but the way this person went about it was just not ok. And yes, some of them are a little suspect so you definitely need to check it out first! Good for you for going with your gut! Happy Friday, girl!!

  9. I am a ORGANIZATIONAL FREAK! I love your pantry! We have a second home on the central coast in Cali and I am heading back to our primary home tomorrow but after having several parties and BBQ's my pantry was a hot MESS! So today I had to clean it all out and get it organized before we come back in a week! Now when I leave tomorrow, I won't have to come back to that! I love me a cleaned out and pretty pantry and closet and well.....anything!!
