Hello Monday!

Somehow it's Monday again.  That was the quickest weekend I've had in awhile!  I worked most of the weekend trying to catch up on all the Teacher Appreciation/End of the Year gift orders but also managed to squeeze in some "me" time plus hang with my boys.  By the end of last week, I was a full day and a half behind on orders which makes me twitch.  Seriously.  But I had so many bulk orders come through at one time that it just set me back.  So I spent a lot of the weekend getting back on track.

I'm always terrified I'm going to get an angry email or review because someone's order shipped the day after it was supposed to.  For the record, I have never gotten one of these angry emails myself but I have seen quite a few that have been shared in some Facebook groups I am in!  So it definitely happens!  Thankfully, (almost) all of my customers have been super sweet and supportive if a problem arises!

I'm almost through the busy season.  Just a few more weeks and things should get back to our normal crazy around here instead of super crazy.  ;)   Teacher Appreciation is a legit season in the Etsy world.

Friday night after dinner, I went out to my favorite spot by the pool and curled up with a soft blanket and a book while the boys ran around behind me playing football for awhile.  I read until it got too dark and it was just what the doctor ordered.  (Finishing up Summerland by Elin Hilderbrand right now and it's so good!)

Saturday we had a completely free day.  No baseball, no birthday parties, nothing.  Well, nothing scheduled.  The boys ran off to play with friends almost as soon as they woke up and were in and out all day long.  I knew I had to get those orders out so I went upstairs immediately to finish up as many as I could before the mailman came around noon.

Mason likes to come hang out with me sometimes.  He wanted a picture of "Mason holding a Mason jar.".  Funny boy.

Y'all, this room is a hot mess by the way.

After the mailman came, we stopped for lunch and then I went outside with the boys while they goofed off and entertained me.

Matthew thought it would be funny to see if he could stay on that donut float without getting wet.  He probably could have if he wouldn't have started making waves in the pool.  He, of course, fell through the hole and got soaked which, let's be honest, was really his goal anyway.  I'm no fool, child!  I know what you're doing.  Just an excuse to swim in your clothes.  #welcomesummerlaundry

Mason had to get in on it too of course! You can see him peeking over the top of the pizza float.
(If you need these floats, you can find the pizza one here and the donut here.  The boys LOVE them!  Great gifts!)

After awhile, their friend came over and they went inside to destroy the house while I relished in the quiet time with the Keeper of the Pool.  This little frog came with the pool and we just never got rid of him after we moved in.  He's our little mascot.

Saturday night we had our weekly family movie night (Minions) while Craig was in Charlotte for a football camp.   My boys get a lot of bonding time with Dad because of all the sports stuff and them just being boys so I love that I get them all to myself once a week where we can do what MOM likes to do--snuggle!  They are still at an age where they love to snuggle up to me and let me squish and squeeze on them and I do NOT take that for granted!  I know my years are numbered!  (Insert crying mom face here)

Sunday I started a new audiobook!  Paula Hawkins, the author of The Girl on the Train, just released her new book Into the Water and I am already halfway through it!  I listened while getting ready this morning, while I did some laundry, the dishes and while I painted a few signs this afternoon.  It is so good!!  I can't wait to see how it all works itself out.

(I know I talked about this some in Friday's post but you can find me on Goodreads now!  I've updated a lot!)

At 12:30 yesterday afternoon I was on Chapter 9.  And by 10:50 last night, I was already into Chapter 40.  I love Audible!  It would take me forever to get Chapter 40 if I was only able to read this in my free time.  There are so many different narrators too in this book so it really comes to life. If you want to try Audible, check it out here!

While we're talking books, I did finish up Crazy Rich Asians right before this one and it was just so-so for me.  I felt like it took forever for something interesting to happen.  At times it was just ridiculous.  I didn't really love any of the characters and the ending was pretty boring for me as well.  Not my favorite.

What else is new...

This week I've got big plans to catch up on orders so that I can have a more normal work schedule again.  We'll see how that goes.  I really want to tackle some more clutter upstairs, order my new dining table and start planning the boys' birthday party and right now there is just NO spare time.

I'm also hoping to go back to blonde this week if I can get my girl to squeeze me in AND if I can catch up enough to where I can spare 3 hours!  I went red for the first time ever a few months ago and it has slowly faded into a golden blonde/copper color which I love but I'm ready to get back to the real me.

We've also got Matthew taking the STAAR test (state testing) for the first time today and tomorrow. Thankfully, he doesn't seem too nervous about it and I haven't made a big deal out of it either.  He's always been at or above grade level on everything so I feel like he'll be ok.

And last but not least, our sweet friends, The Slaughters, are leaving for China to go pick up their baby girl tomorrow!  Please keep them in your prayers!  This has been a long time coming for them and I know they can't wait to hold that little girl in their arms!

Have a great week, friends!!

  2. What a great weekend. My daughter is taking our state test today for the first time (it lasts five days, but they spread it out over two weeks) and I am a little nervous for her. I haven't mentioned it too much but being a teacher, I know what is going down. Also, her teachers are making all their students a big breakfast each day before the test so that makes it fun. I love those floats. Happy Monday!

  3. I am currently reading Crazy Rich Asians and thinking it is so-so too. Glad it wasn't just me. And I love the idea of audio books. Might have to try that for the summer while I am out by the pool!
