Weekend Recap. Birthday Edition!

Hey everyone!  I hope you all had a great weekend!  We had so much fun this weekend and I feel like I am finally starting to get the whole balance thing lately which makes my Saturdays and Sundays so much more fun.

My Etsy shop is booming which I could not be more thankful for so I am constantly feeling that tug to get back into my workroom so everyone gets their orders as quickly as possible--even when it's 2:30 on a Saturday and my kids want to go swimming.

I am a hopeless people-pleaser.

But lately, I have made some adjustments to my shop which has given me the one thing I've been needing...more time!

Which means I get to be fully present on the weekends now with my sweet family.  So thankful!

Now on to our weekend!!

Matthew turned NINE on Friday and I still can't believe he's that old.  I remember the day he was born.  Leaving for the hospital to be induced was so exciting although I had been hoping for the dramatic water breaking scene that I saw in all the movies.  (Thankfully, I got that with Mason!)

I am so blessed to be his mama.  It's hard to even remember when he wasn't here.

Anyway.

Now I'm just going to throw in a ton of random pictures of Matthew as a little guy.  :)  (Proud mama, moment!)

Matthew is such a special kid.  He is incredibly kind, soft-hearted, soft-spoken, sweet, gentle, shy and sensitive.  He is also fun, goofy, smart, stubborn, athletic, and loves his family so much.  Especially his little brother.  They are a dynamic duo and I am so thankful for my boys!!

I could go on and on about my boys but I'll wrap it up.  On my old blog, I wrote a post about Matthew and being a new mommy.  I posted it again here when this blog was still really new.  It takes me right back to that night every time.

Friday was his actual birthday and it was also field day at school!  He was pumped.

I worked for a couple of hours in the morning, Craig went to field day and I left to run birthday errands!

I hit up the local donut shop for donuts and donut holes because donuts=life to that kid.  I also ran to Target to get a little gift even though he's already gotten his big gifts (mainly his new bike!).

When Matthew walked through the door after school on Friday, I had a little surprise for him.

New swimsuit, swimshirt and googles.

I picked up a few cheap little things from the Target Dollar Spot too and made an epic mistake.

The slime.

Right after this picture, Mason tried on his new swim shirt and within minutes he'd managed to rub slime all over the front of it. It only came out with lots of scrubbing and because it was that swim shirt material.  Later that day, Matthew put his slime on his face and it got stuck in his eyebrows, eyelashes, and hair.  I also found it on my couch and eventually, on Matthew's shirt as well.  And it would not come out.

The dollar gift I thought would be just a little bag filler was the star of the show!  They are obsessed.  And I'm regretting it!!!

Loving my new earrings by the way!  Find them here and similar here.  I got compliments on them all day!

Clearly, my little guy thinks he's way too cool for me to give giant kisses on those cute cheeks! #toobad

And I don't know about any of you, but my kids' underwear is just one of the things that aren't on my radar all that often.  I looked through Matthew's the other day and some of them in there were a 5T y'all!!  Good grief.  We have bought new underwear over the years obviously but I guess we haven't done a great job at sorting and discarding.  And he was definitley needing some new undies.  So he got a huge stack of them for his birthday!

We will be having both boys OFFICIAL birthday party (joint party) on June 10th so the fun for both of them isn't over yet!  It'll be in the backyard with swimming and a giant bounce house waterslide.  I swear their birthdays seem to go on forever because Dad is always gone on weekends!  It's our first available date!

After we opened presents and the boys ate donuts, we had to get ready for Matthew's baseball game.  It was SO windy...my hair looked like Medusa afterwards.  #notcute

Matthew ended up with the game ball which was also a great birthday treat!  He has played so hard this year and is loving it!

After the game we told Matthew he could choose ANYWHERE he wanted for dinner.  And he chose Chick-fil-A.  We reinforced that it could be anywhere at all..and he still chose Chick-fil-A.  So that's where we went.

Saturday morning, Mason had a baseball game and Craig left for a camp in Oakland.

It was Msaon's last game of the season and they ended up in a tie with the undefeated team!  Go Indians!  They are so cute!

Saturday afternoon, they went to a birthday party which gave me a couple of hours to get some stuff done around the house.

Sunday the boys did some horsing around. They thought this was so fun!

And then we hit the Beach Club with friends for the afternoon!

These boys spent a very long time digging a giant hole.

They may or may not have dug through a trash can to get empty water bottles out to help them fill the hole...

I had to snap a pic of my cute water bottle!  Available here!

It was a great way to end our weekend!

We are so ready for summer!!  The countdown is on!!

Linking up today with Johannah and Heather for Hello Monday!

  2. What a great weekend!
Can I just tell you how much I really really dislike slime! Oh my goodness. It's been an obsession over here for a couple of months, and I may have lost my mind when Emma got it on her softball uniform. And the shirt being probably along the same lines of material as the swim shirt, I had the *hardest* time getting it off. And then finding it on the seat in my car, and on the couch. Slime has officially been banned from our house. #worstmomever Today they are making slime in Emma's class. She told her teacher she wouldn't be able to bring it home because "mom doesn't allow slime in our house anymore." The teacher just laughed I guess. Ha!

The beach club looks like it would be so much fun!!!
I'm so glad your Etsy shop is doing so well =)

    Have a great Monday!!

    1. I should have included that the reason I bought the slime was because Matthew had said that for his birthday he wanted to MAKE slime! So I thought this was an easy way out of that! haha

    1. I bet if you showed any basic donut shop the picture, they could do it! The place I got them from is just an ordinary, generic, donut shop! I was suprirsed they had cute stuff!
