Friday Favorites #19. {7.14.17}

Well hey there, Friday!  You totally snuck up on me this week!  Matthew came back from camp on Monday, Mason leaves for camp (just one night) today and Craig has been at another camp for the past couple of days.  Why am I the only one who never gets to go anywhere???!!  I'm 100% sure that if anyone deserves a little vacay, it's Mama!  ;)  I feel like I need to get a group of girlfriends together and take a fun trip Real Housewives style.  They are always taking fun (and super dramatic) trips on that show!  We'd leave out the drama though.

Speaking of friends, today I'm linking up with my girls Erika, Narci and Andrea for Friday Favorites! So let's just jump right in!

I'm planning a book review post for next week so I won't go full out here right now.  But if you love Elin Hilderbrand, Emily Giffin, Jennifer Weiner, Jane Green, etc then you need to read a Kristan Higgins book!  Y'all, I'm OBSESSED.  She has written a lot of books so I'm not sure how she's gone unnoticed by me but seriously, 5 minutes into the first book I read of hers, I got all giddy because I knew I was going to love this author.  (And yes, I know I've talked about her several times over the past couple of weeks but I can't help it!)

I started with If You Only Knew.

Then IMMEDIATELY started in on On Second Thought.

And then went straight into My One and Only.

Not a one was a disappointment.  They were all so so so good!  Words to describe them:  charming, endearing, funny, witty, heartfelt, interesting, intriguing... I don't know.  I loved the stories, the characters, the twists...  I don't know why they were so good!  They just were.  They gave me #allthegoodfeels.  ;)  Also, if you are an Audible girl like me, (which is the only way I flew through these!), the narrator is the same for all 3 of these and she is one of the best!

Click on the titles above to check them out on Amazon and read the full descriptions.  She's got so many to choose from.  My beach bag will definitely hold a Kristan Higgins paperback while I'm hanging out on the beach in a few weeks!

I plan on starting my fourth Higgins book tomorrow.  I'm not even sure which one it will be yet but I'll post it in my review next week.

I've had a lot of emails lately asking about the type of machine I use to create my Etsy goodies.  So I figured I'd include it here.  There are two cutting machine brands that are the most popular.  A Cricut or a Silhouette.  It's really just a personal preference when it comes to which one you should choose but I personally liked the Silhouette better when I had to make my decision a few years ago.  At the time, the Silhouette files were all digital as opposed to the Cricut ones which were cartridges you had to buy.  I think Cricut has stepped it up now though and gone digital as well.  (Although I have absolutely no knowledge on Cricuts.)

The Silhouette Cameo is what I have and is easy to use after a little research and of course, some good ole trial and error.  I spent months figuring out all it can do and I was constantly learning from my mistakes.  So there is definitely a learning curve.

If you have one and are still learning or are thinking of getting one, be sure to head over to The Silhouette School blog and Facebook page for some amazing tutorials.  Facebook also has tons of groups you can join to help you out as well as YouTube!

I won't spend all day on this because I know this probably doesn't interest the majority of you, but if you do have questions, feel free to email me or message me on Instagram (@thatinspiredchick or @amandanall).

I've had this bag in my Nordstrom cart for a week now.  I just love it.  I think it's the navy and white stripes that are really doing it for me.  I am such a sucker for navy and white.  It's also only $35!  (Find it here.)  I feel like it can hold a lot of stuff, can be used as a pool/beach bag or just a summer purse.  I'm just imagining it filled with my kids' iPads and old phones they play their games on, my magazines or books, coloring paper and crayons, random fidget spinners and toys plus my other basics (wallet, keys, phone, 4 pairs of sunglasses, 3 random lip glosses, bandaids--because, boys, Dramamine--always prepared, and 27 crumpled receipts for everything from wood from Home Depot to my lemon/strawberry water from Sonic).

So after I finished my 3rd Kristan Higgins book, I took a break for a couple of days to switch it over and watch some Netflix.  I wanted something that would make me laugh and since I watch/listen to Friends every night (check out THAT weird quirk here), I had to go with option #2.  There are only a few other shows that make me feel as happy as Friends but Parks and Rec is one of them.  If you haven't binge watched Parks and Rec, DO IT!!!  If you love Friends and Amy Poehler, you will love this.  I wasn't a fan of The Office and I know this was sort of spinoff of that.  It just didn't strike a chord with me.  So don't worry if you hated The Office.  I did too but I LOVE Parks and Rec.  Leslie Knope for President, y'all!

And since we are talking funny sitcoms, there is nothing funnier than drunk characters on these kinds of shows.  They crack me up every. single. time.  And let me point out that this has nothing to do with my stance on alcohol, getting drunk, etc.  Drunk people on reality TV is way different.  This is just me thinking it's hysterical seeing Drunk Monica tell Chandler she's going to puke on him tonight. ; )

And then there's Rachel and Ross in Vegas...

And then just Ross.  God bless him, poor thing.  (Read it from left to right, not top to bottom)

And not to be outdone, I'll add a few of my favorite Parks and Rec scenes, too!

Etsy time!  Next week I'll be closing the shop so that I can finish up all orders before we head to the beach for a vacation!  I'm not sure what day it will happen just yet but if you had your eye on something and were wanting it before mid-August, get it now!  I'll reopen the first week of August but orders won't start shipping until at least the 12th.  So keep that in mind!

My Christmas in July sale will end when the shop closes next week so if you want 15% off your Christmas signs, head over and claim yours!

Here is a stack of signs I sent out earlier this week.  My back was SCREAMING at me after a 12 hour day but I felt so productive!

I also have a ton of pretty drinkware!!  But this one was the most memorable of the week.  It is from my Create Your Own glitterdipped tumbler listing.  Y'all.  I had no idea what a "fetty wap" was.  I had to google it.  And apparently it's a he not a thing.  ;) Who knew!?  I love my Christian radio (worship songs are my jam) and if that's not playing in the car then an Audiobook is.  When did I get so old?  #noshame

And if you need tips for buying on Etsy, be sure to check out my post here!

For all you Big Brother fans, I hope this doesn't offend you.  But on last night's BB, Julie Chen looked a little like she belonged on a #fashionfail post.  I love Julie Chen but there was just something about her look last night that I was not diggin'.  I was too lazy to get up out of bed to snap a non-blurry pic but here's what it looked like.  It just wasn't working for me.  The dress made her look wide and it kind of looked like a young girl going to homecoming.

I wasn't feeling the buttons going up the front and the long necklace paired with the long earrings, bracelets on both wrists as well as rings on both hands.  And then the ruffly heels to go with it.  Eh.  Not my favorite look, Julie's stylist!  ;)  #Juliedeservesbetter

(I will admit she looks a lot better from a distance and with the details blurry than it did in HD.)

Anyway, when I was browsing the web looking for random craziness of the fashion world, I did come something that I had to post.

In case you need crystal mesh mask, Gucci has you covered!

I can't even begin to imagine where or why you would need this.  Unless you're Lady Gaga because she could totally make this work.  And probably has.  (It's $980 if you were wondering.  Or wanting one.)

I am clearly just a small town girl from East Texas.  I don't get it.

Anyway, I hope you all have a great weekend!!  See you back here on Monday!

  1. I'm an avid FRIENDS lover, like most 30-something's and I ADORE The Office.. truly once you get past the first season, Michael Scott because a jewel... one of the most complex characters ever on TV.. I love him so much... but I've never watched Parks and Rec! I guess it's probably time!

    1. Maybe that was the problem! I never made it past the first season. I'll have to give it another shot sometime! I was also not a fan of Seinfeld so maybe it's just my personality? (I know, I know! Seinfeld fans are going to hate me now!!)

  3. My friends and I talked about Julie Chen's dress last night too! I felt a little better about it when my friend googled and found out she's pregnant...my guess is she's still just barely bumpin' and that dress was just unflattering.

    1. Oh I had no idea!! Well she definitely hid that bump well! ;) I think the whole outfit was just too young looking maybe? I can't even put my finger on it. It just was all wrong on her. But so happy to hear about a baby!! That's awesome!

  5. I don't think she's pregnant. I googled it and nothing came up except when she was pregnant years ago. I thought the same thing about her dress though. And her red dress like last week. Usually she wears cool stuff. I've always thought she is so pretty though and always has great hair. Maybe she needs the mesh mask to wear next week. What in the world?!?!?! Hahahaha

    1. I think you're right. I googled it just now too and all I could find was stuff from 2009. So her stylist just totally dropped the ball then. She is so beautiful! I think she just needs a new stylist!

  8. You will live that bag! It's huge! I actually returned it bc I'm so petite and it seemed too large for me to carry, unless I was going to the beach.
