Friday Favorites #54.

YES!  This morning, Craig and I are getting on a plane and heading to Phoenix for a getaway!  Up until last night, I thought this was part of a football camp Craig was coaching.  Clearly, the only part of this whole thing that I heard was "Waldorf Astoria" and "all the wives are coming".

Turns out, this is a golf tournament that he got invited to play in!  I should really pay more attention when he talks.

Anyway, we decided to go a few days early so we have Friday, Saturday and Sunday to ourselves and then the golf stuff starts Sunday night with the actual tournament on Monday.  Not that any of that golf stuff concerns me because I'll be laid out by the pool, sipping my frozen fruity drink and reading the new Emily Giffin!

I'm not doing a full Friday Favorites post today but I HAVE to mention this thing.

I was able to score an advanced digital copy of Emily Giffin's new book, All We Ever Wanted.  (Eeeeek!!!)  The problem was that I had no e-reader.  Y'all know I'm an audiobook girl almost all the time but I do love a good "real" book out by the pool when it's warm.  But I'm starting to get these advanced copies of new books now and almost all of them are digital.  So I had to get my first Kindle!

Truthfully, I wasn't so sure about these things.  I thought it just wouldn't feel like reading on them. (Does that make sense?) But when I held this sleek little thing in my hand, I fell in LOVE!

I ended up ordering the Kindle Paperwhite.  I skipped the basic Kindle because there is no backlight so you can't read in the dark.  I want to be able to read out by the pool when the sun sets and in the bed.  So I needed the light.  (And the best part about all of them is that you can read them in the bright sunlight with no crazy glare.

And right now (as I type this), the Paperwhite is on sale for $79.99 as opposed to $119.99!  I am super bummed that I didn't get to take advantage of this but YOU CAN!!  This would make a great Mother's Day or Graduation gift!!  I have no idea when the sale ends so get it while you can.

That's all I have for this week because I'm in vacay mode and completely distracted.  ;)  I don't get out much y'all, so I'm pretty excited.

Can't wait to give you a review of All We Ever Wanted in my April Book Review!  (Release date is June 26th.)  After that, I'll be diving into the new Mary Kay Andrews book, The High Tide Club.  That one comes out on May 8th.  I am a huge Mary Kay Andrews fan!!

Ahhhhh, I LOVE SUMMERTIME!!!

  7. I mainly read digital books and have for the last few years, but I don't own a kindle. I use the Kindle app on my phone and tablet. If you are on the fence about switching to digital books, try the app before buying a Kindle.

    1. Yes!! That’s exactly what I did! I tried it out on my phone with another book a few weeks before! Great advice. But I kept getting distracted by texts and notifications and my eyes kept crossing. Haha. I think I’m getting old.

  11. I hear it doesn’t come with a power adapter? Did you have to purchase anything extra or any phone adapter will work? Does it come with a cable?

  12. I am on my 3rd kindle. I have the paperweight and have had for several years. LOVE IT. I still read some regular books but I can trow that kindle in my bag and read anytime - anywhere and I don't have to take SEVERAL books on vacay with me anymore. I love my case. I have one by the brand FINITE. Its awesome and not pricey and has lasted me several years. Just a thought. I like having the cover over the top of it when I toss it in my bag and go. I also love being able to set my kindle up on the little area on my elliptical and read as I sweat. Have fun in Phoenix. We did Scottsdale spring training last month and loved it!
