Wish List Wednesday!

Ladies, I want to talk to you about something very near and dear to my heart today.

Shopping.

We love to shop, don't we?  I know I do.  And it's nothing to be ashamed of.  It doesn't make you shallow or greedy.  It doesn't mean you are superficial.  It just means you are human and like pretty things.  You can love to shop even if you don't actually DO a whole lot of it.

I love shopping of any kind.  Online shopping, in-store shopping, and window shopping. I love blogs that recommend cool products and love to see what other moms like me are wearing.  It's like having a personal shopper.  It's fun!  Even just picking out stuff I want but know I'll most likely never actually buy.  I love it all.

HOWEVER.  I am fully aware that I can't have everything I see in the pages of my HGTV magazine or on Fixer Upper.  Yes, I want ALL the Kendra Scott earrings and the Tory Burch flip flops I've been drooling over for months.  (That are in fact, sitting in my Nordstrom "cart" at this very moment taunting me and have been for about a year now...)

But money doesn't grow on trees and all that.  #boo  (But if it did, it might be the first plant ever I'd manage not to kill!)

When I see things I LOVE I add it to my Wish List.  My Wish List is basically my entire Pinterest page.  But I also snap pics of stuff I see in stores or in magazines, screenshot things on Facebook and Instagram and pin a ton of stuff.  So when I say "Wish List" it's not exactly a solid page of things I've written down.  It's more of a figurative Wish List.

Not everything on my Wish List is "stuff".  It also includes things like "I wish I loved to cook/exercise/fold clothes/do the dishes." or "I wish my dog would stop peeing in this one spot in my house."  #help  Unfortunately, those are wishes I'm not sure will ever come true.  It also includes things like all the DIY projects I have in store for my house that I know I'll never get to.

Anyway, even though I can't get everything on my Wish List, I love to look through the things I've pinned or screenshotted and treat myself when I can.  I work hard all week long with my Etsy shop, being a mom, wife, and all those other hats we wear.  And I know that I'm blessed to be able to treat myself sometimes.  It is usually something small but sometimes I decide to splurge and get something that I've really been wanting.  (Like this rug I just ordered for my craft room!!  Eek!  We'll get to that in just a minute.)

So I thought it might be fun to do a Wish List Wednesday post from time-to-time and maybe even turn it into my very first link up party! But I would love to hear from you first before I do that.  I'm still new-ish to blogging and cross my fingers every time I post something that someone reads it.  And no one wants to throw a party where none of their friends show up.  ;)  So let me know what you think of this idea and if you'd link up!  I'd love to see what is on y'all's Wish List!

But for today, I want to share a few of the things that are at the top of mine at the moment.

#1

I have been wanting a new rug for my craft room for a good 9 months now.  I shouldn't tell you why and I'm even too embarrassed to SHOW you why.  (I may get brave enough to do this later but its just SO BAD.) But let's just say the off-white, shaggy carpet the people who lived here before us picked out can't quite handle a spilled quart of dark gray paint.  (Or red.  Or white.)

So for months, I've been using a neon green rug that used to be in the boys' bathroom to hide some of the damage.  It is not cute.  And it doesn't do a good enough job at covering the 3 giant spills.  But not having something to hide it means I'd have to look at them every day which would give me a nervous breakdown.

(For the record, we have talked about re-carpeting the entire upstairs as soon as the boys get a little older so my spills weren't on gorgeous new carpet.  The entire upstairs is just a hot mess.)

I knew I wanted a bright colorful rug with a busy pattern to hide any (more) accidental spills and to just make it cheery in there.  Plus, if you've been following me, you know by now I am a color fanatic.  It just makes me happy.

I clicked over to Wayfair while I was working on Monday and this rug popped out at me.  And I knew it was a winner.  I HAD to have it.  The price was decent and they had the size I wanted so after reading reviews (you should ALWAYS read reviews!), I bought it!  It should be here Friday and I can't wait!!  Check this one off the Wish List!

Later on that day, I went outside to sit by the pool with my HGTV June magazine and almost flipped out when I saw THIS!

The rug that I had just purchased a few hours earlier!

Which totally validated my purchase.  Right?!

I am so excited to get the rug in.  It might just be the kick in the pants I need to get my craft room finished up if I can ever find the time.  Right now I still need to paint the walls...at least paint where there used to be shelves.  We took the shelves down and there is a yellow streak where each shelf used to be and the rest of the wall is tan.  I kind of want to paint 3 walls white and one a fun color like mint or turquoise.  It's a craft room so it can be funky!  I'll post pics eventually.  ;)

The second big thing on my Wish List right now is a new table for our breakfast nook.  When we lived in Buffalo, we bought this big beautiful house because Craig's contract with the Bills was a good one and we thought we'd be there for quite awhile.  (We were wrong.)

But we loved our house!  And we needed furniture so I hit up Pottery Barn and picked out my favorites.  And I was all about the black furniture back then.

So we had black dining tables, black end tables, black coffee tables, black buffet tables and entertainment centers.  So much black.

And then we had to move.  So all of our furniture came with us to our Texas house and we just made it work.  And over time my tastes have definitely changed.  I've slowly gotten rid of some of our black furniture but what I'd really like to do is sell everything in our house and start over.  Does anyone else ever wish they could do that?

After almost 10 years, it was time for that black table that sat in our breakfast nook TO GO.  I needed something NOT black right there to lighten up that space.  So we sold it a few weeks ago and I have been taking my time looking for the perfect table.

Right now, I'm thinking something like this.

I adore this color and how natural it looks!  Find it here

This one is perfection.  It might end up being the winner.  The top is so cool and I love the rustic look.  Very Fixer Upper-y.  Find it here.

Or maybe this set.

I like that it comes with chairs.  One less thing to worry about!

Those are just a few that are on my Wish List.  I'm hoping to pull the trigger on this soon though!  We actually NEED a table to eat at!

And I have to throw in something from my Nordstrom cart...because it's always full of "Saved for Later" things.  I thought it'd be fun to pull a few items from there to show you what I'm wishing for but haven't gone through with yet.

I'm so loving these brown leather fringe flip flops!!  I want to say they've been in my cart for about 3 weeks right next to the Tory Burch ones.

Both so cute but I definitely don't need both!  Or either, honestly.  The fringe flip flops are actually ON SALE right now which could make the decision easier!  The price difference is about $100...so there's that...  ;)

#4

I saw this picture on a Facebook Group I am in (anyone else part of the At Home with Kristyn Cole FB page?) and immediately started to feel all tingly.  My kitchen is very similar to this one and I've always toyed with the idea of painting the cabinets white but it's such a huge undertaking.  But seeing that they did just the island is so fun!!  So now painting my kitchen island white is on my Wish List.  Definitely thinking I skip DIYing this project and leave it to the professionals though.  And how gorgeous are those light fixtures?  They are from World Market.

I think this will be the first project on our list this summer.  Well, along with actually finishing our shiplap wall of builtins...and replacing this chandelier.

We still need to build our upper cabinets and find hardware for the doors.

Sigh.

So those are some of the things in my Wish List at the moment!  What's on yours?  And tell me what you think about making Wish List Wednesday into a linkup! (Is link up one word or two?  Link up?  Linkup?)

See you back here for Friday Favorites!  Have a great day!

  1. I would love a wish list link up... I love seeing what other people are wanting and adding some to my list. Those brown flip flops just went into my Nordstrom cart as well. Maybe they'll go on a better sale come July/anniversary sale time. We are currently looking for a new house so my wish list is all about that! We had a pretty set list of things we wanted but since we've been looking the "must haves" have grown when I've seen things I didn't even know I wanted. Ha! I also have a running list in my Amazon cart.
